I do really like the tough to play against mentality that is coming back into this team. If Monohan pans out and the guy we get next year we are right on track for the 2-3 year rebuild.

I still think we'll be looking up in the standings. But the team is looking more competitive and harder to play against.
I don't mind finishing last this year, but I would much rather do it with respectability than with floaters like Tanguay last year

TJ will be good playing on the 3rd line with Glencross and maybe centre by Knight or Reinhart. I always like him because he doesn't shy away from traffic in front of the net.

Abso-freakin'-lutely. As long as they continue to get younger, faster, and stronger I'll be a happy viewer..regardless of wins/losses. Will make for more interesting watching!

What's the story on him? He had 15 goals and 24 assists in 70 games as a 22 year old and then kind of fell off.
It's a friendly contract for a project like him though. Hopefully it works out.

They may lose a lot of games this year, but teams will leave thanking their lucky stars that the game is over. That is the type of team you want to be. If you can't win, you don't want to be the team others look towards for an easy night.

Galiardi on the Fan 960 right now:
Doug Wilson gave a list of interested teams to Galiardi and he chose Calgary as his number 1 spot to get traded to

Love this trade. Galli on the fan said he told the Sharks once it was clear things wouldn't work out with them he wanted to come to the Flames. Living the dream to play for his hometown team. We got 2 TJ's now

Seems that way eh? I knew TJ a bit from when he played with the Hitmen and he was a really nice guy on and off the ice. A family member of mine billets Hitmen players, and they always spoke highly of TJ.

The only thing with Galiardi is that it seems like he's made of glass. The most games he's played in a season is 70. In his other three seasons he's played 35, 69, and 36 (out of 48) games. Anyone know what's the deal? Is it injury or is it being a healthy scratch?

He was a healthy scratch atleast twice that I can remember last season.
Not too bad, that happens with a 22-24 year old still finding their game in the NHL.

could be part of the reason behind the 1yr contract. He obviously wants to be here... management being cautious.

I believe Iggy and Regher were responsible for a large number of those games missed.... From what I know he put quite a bit of weight on and its helped out!

I remember when he was with Colorado he had a bit of a freak injury when Regehr threw him awkwardly into the boards and broke his arm.
And then Iggy hit him into the boards and did the same I think...

from his TSN profile:
2009/11/20 Missed 9 games (ankle injury).
2010/04/11 Missed 2 games (torso injury).
2010/12/17 Missed 17 games (broken right wrist).
2011/04/10 Missed the last 28 regular season games (wrist injury).
2012/02/24 Missed 3 games (upper body injury).
2012/03/28 Missed 6 games (various injuries).
That 10-11 season was pretty brutal (only 35 games) with two long-term wrist injuries, other than that it doesn't seem like a huge deal. There isn't anything there about the 12-13 season in terms of injury.
