6.5 M for a 29 year old who has a career high of 46 points and has only had 1 season where he scored 18 or more goals? Insane for Clarkson if he gets that.

The panthers did not give a QO to Peter Mueller because they were afraid they couldn't walk away from the aribitration reward.

He is now UFA.

Insane. I hope no one bites on that one.

Theres a guy I would like the Flames to take a run at! Peter Mueller is big and scores. When his head isn't wraped in Pillows. But he stayed concussion free last season so there is signs of a turn around.

Would make a decent line with another M we just acquired........

Rumors were that Mueller nearly signed here last off-season.

I wonder if there is still mutual interest there?

I heard this before that some teams would have no choice but to walk away from players becasue they can't take the chance on arbitration reward.

considering that Mueller has been signed cheap recently and yet his team is letting him walk again, I would think that is a pretty strong red flag.

He has had multiple chances, what has he done lately?

They are letting him walk away cause they can't afford what he will get in arbitration

Never understood the attraction to Mueller. His production isn't great and he has had injury troubles. Didn't McGuire say on a radio interview a couple of years ago that he was thinking of leaving hockey to devote himself to his religion?

Edit: Here are his stats.
GP - G - A - Pts - Pim - +/-
2007-08 Phoenix Coyotes 81 22 32 54 32 -13
2008-09 Phoenix Coyotes 72 13 23 36 24 -7
2009-10 Phoenix Coyotes 54 4 13 17 8 -5
2009-10 Colorado Avalanche 15 9 11 20 8 4
2011-12 Colorado Avalanche 32 7 9 16 8 -3
2012-13 Florida Panthers 43 8 9 17 18 -11

Id rather be playing one of our young guys.

Mueller in 43 gp, 8g and 9a with a -11. First season back after a long concussion and on a terrible team. A player I believe that could do well under Hartley.

Honestly this is exactly the kind of player the Flames will be looking at. One or two year deal and could offer a bit more to lock him up.

Certainly no cap problems. Yes they have an internal budget, but I see this as they don't think he's worth what he'll get in arbitration, not 'they can't afford it'

They're letting Weiss walk as well because they can't afford it. They're tight budgeted down there.

identical numbers to Cervenka last year. I agree with Jacks, I just don't see what people like in him. Still clinging to the promise he held as a teen, IMO

But if he was worth it, they would keep him. They have to ice a 23 man team.

$1.75m last year - it's not like we're talking about a $4m contract here

Should be Barkov's cap hit or a part of it. I don't know man. Either way He's worth a shot here. Not like the Flames are going to be in on the big boys during FA.

Well, we don't have much to lose at that price.

If it was short term, I wouldn't have a problem with it. I just don't see much in the way of upside.

Dan Tencer ‏@dantencer 1m Oilers do not qualify Theo Peckham, Colten Teubert, Phillipe Cornet or Alex Plante. All become UFA.
