The Avs waiving both Zanon and Hunwick seems odd, seems like they really want to guy their blueline.

Hunwick played 21:31 for Colorado last year... was their #1 d-man and makes 1.6M

He was a +4

Is there a French only policy being put in place in Colorado?

I could see Schultz ending up in Anaheim. He played bigger minutes under Boudreau

Hunwick has a Weisbrod connection. Drafted by Boston, was a college player. Weisbrod will be very familiar with him.

Be interested if Mackinnon stays in juniors to save a year on his EL?

Blum isn't going to be qualified by Nashville and he is a guy I really want Feaster to go after. I read that Halischuk is not going to be qualified either. He's a guy I wouldn't mind in the bottom 6 either.

call me crazy, but i'd be happy if the flames picked up any of these dmen to our group this year, with the hope they can rebound and provide some leadership (ie. Hall Gill is known as a solid locker room guy).

No doubt. He was very impressive here in Finland during the lockout. Played with a lot of heart.

Gill is 38..... sign him as a coach for $80,000 if you want him in the locker room

Sign Gill then deal him at the deadline for a pick?

You have to pay a 100 bucks to claim a guy off of waivers?

I could see us picking up one of these guys. Or are we currently at 50 contracts?

Schultz is terrible, might as well play Kanzig instead.

I think Schultz will be a Flame.

Still young enough (27), Calgary kid, and is an improvement for this team.

Gets the Sarich contract (2 years, 4 million).

Can someone please explain the difference between waivers and unconditional waivers?

Wikipedia gives a good overview:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waivers_%28NHL%29

Although re-entry waivers have been eliminated in the new cba
