Apparently the Ducks are out:

Eric Stephens ‏@icemancometh 12s Ducks GM Bob Murray confirmed he talked with Vinny Lecavalier. Not in game there. Lecavalier wants too much term, salary for them.

I said this in another thread, but i think Vinny would be a great guy to bring in to mentor guys like Monahan and Knight. He has a good two-way game.

Give him his very own souvenir seat from the lower bowl of the Saddledome.

I promise you it will be as effective as the Oilers' DVD.

if we're signing any older UFA center, I think it should be Briere.

They should take a shot at some experienced UFA of some sort! There was talk that Poirier is Lecavalier's nephew? I've been trying to confirm this, but haven't found anything concrete...would certainly add a different aspect to this if it's true.

5 years at 5m isn't great but it's not the worst, I don't think the Canucks could go higher than 4 though

assuming Ballard is bought out the Canucks have 8.2m in cap space

Vinny for 4m a year drops that to 4.2 and they need 3 f and 2 d, with 2 of those F expected to be EL deals and the D being 6th/7th cheap guys it's possible but wouldn't leave much wiggle room, another deal probably needs to happen

I would offer 1 year 7-8 mill without a NTC and see if be bites. If not, 3 years 4-5 mill would be ok...

@JoshuaCooper Poile said he talked with Lecavalier, but Lecavalier would prefer to be on the east coast.

That's not likely going to stop Jay from offering him a big fat contract. We will see if money talks. I expect at the least the Lecavalier camp will use any big offer from a western based team to drive up salary expectations from his preferred destinations.

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun 17s Yes, playing East is a factor for Lecavalier, but not the only factor. Dallas is still in the mix.

Haven't read much of the thread but can't see why he'd want to sign with a team rebuilding. He wants to win and Calgary isn't close to that right now. Don't see him being interested in coming here. Listening to Calgary was probably a favor to Feaster.

I think that is the main reason why Vinny and his agnet are willing to talk to Calgary. Vinny doing a courtesy for Feaster is 2nd.

No suprise here:
David Pagnotta ‏@TheFourthPeriod 15s Flames are/were another team very interested in Lecavalier, but told he won't be signing in Calgary.

A rebuilding team was not high on his list? Shocking.

Dammage79 found this rumour to be false- it was something he saw on Twitter but was later shot down as just a false tweet.
