It is going to be a young team no matter what looking at the camp roster.

And Sutter, like any coach, likes talent and guys who can help him win.

Not sure that Jankowski has shown any ability to play a 200 ft. game better than any of the guys who got invited to camp as well.

It's no wonder people get frustrated with you.

At no time did I ever say anything that suggested that I think I know more than HC.

I am presenting my opinions on why I think Jankowski has a valid chance to be there. You have every right to disagree.

But to do the HC knows better thing just makes you a DB.

I don't think Jankowski has shown enough at this time to warrant an invite to this camp. He had a very good season in the NCAA for a 17 year old player making the adjustment to the college game, but he didn't blow anyone away.

There's a lot of talent on that roster and he would be hard pressed to crack that lineup. A lot will depend on how well he does at the beginning of the season. If he starts off well, he may get an invite to the Winter camp. I don't know a lot about who is returning on his team, but it seems to me that they had a lot of 21-22 year old players and may have a bit of change in the dressing room. Anyone else know more about that?

Jankowski took a pretty good step forward this year in college, nobody is doubting that, in terms of skill set he's probably in the same league as the guys in the WJC at center. In terms of the intangibles physically he's still a ways away.

It sounds like he's put on a bunch of weight and strength which he needed to do, it will be interesting to see if his body adjusts to it on the ice.

Monahan
Reinhart
MacDavid

They are all ahead of Jankowski right now by a mile, and they all have pretty high ceilings as well. I think if Jankowski gets an invite, it will be to play on the wing. Lazar or Horvat would be better guys to use on the 4th line IMO than Jankowski would. If Jankowski takes a HUGE step this year, he could make it, but a lot of things have to go right.

Jankowski needs a very strong start to the season to make HC consider him from now on. Making this camp would have been his best shot to show what he had with his peers. You can't argue that HC is making a wrong choice though - but a few guys suddenly make the NHL and/or a few injuries, coupled with a fine start gets him in legitimate conversations. I don't imagine he is off the radar, just not close enough to get invited. Disappointing, but very understandable looking at that list.

I actually agree with you that reinhart is better, however this makes no sense.

Reinhart is playing against boys as a 16-17 year old and jankowski is playing against men. Overage in junior is 20, guys in the NCAA are up to 24-25 years old.

Hopefully Jankowski and Klimchuk can squeeze their way onto this team instead of D-bags like Gaunce, Horvat and Shinkaruk.

Disappointed to see no Klimchuk on the invite list after playing so well at the U18s.

If he has a solid start to his season I can see him getting a Winter invite. Theres usually two or three that get invited for the Winter camp that werent on the Summer invite list.

doubtful Mack or Drouin attend the summer camp. Assuming they don't will Hockey Canada stick with the remaining 18 forwards or add two more

Jankowski has been invited now per Steinberg

Pat Steinberg ‏@Fan960Steinberg 53s #Flames prospect Mark Jankowski has been added to Team Canada's World Junior summer development camp roster.

Very surprised Klimchuck isn't invited to camp. He put up solid numbers on a crappy team, much like Monohan. However I'm sure there's players on the current list that won't be released to attend, or will be injured. Here's to hoping Klimchuck can grab an invite and crack the roster. How awesome would it be to potentially have 3 Flames prospects on Canada.

I guess that's why they hold a camp though right? To see if his game fits? Just like any other player who got an invite, he's there to be evaluated and if he fits great if he doesn't it's still great they wanted to see where his game was. This is a positive for Mark no matter what the outcome and hopefully he takes full advantage of it.
