Definitely no disappointment here. Monahan + Jankowski gives the Flames size and skill up the middle, both with great playmaking ability. Flames still need another high-end center just to be sure, but this is a very good step in the right direction.

Monahan, Jankowski & Knight give you amazing depth, skill and size up the middle.

I really want to see Monahan with the Flames and I think he might be able to make the jump as soon as this fall but if he isn't ready I hope the Flames don't rush him. Janko is probably two years away, no need to rush anyone.

Monahan with his 93 year-old great-grandfather.

Would have been happy with Lindholm or Monahan. Glad he is a Flame!
Can't wait to see us winning some faceoffs.

This is a real solid pick. Let's hope he pans out, otherwise we have another Stajan.

Monahan as BPA is the right pick. Fills the need. Adding Monahan and Knight this year will give our center position a very different look. Good improvement. Next summer will be equally important as another center with size will join the ranks as Bill Arnold comes out of Boston College. Monahan, Knight and Arnold all strong two way players who are six foot and above. Have to like that direction.

The right choice, but I wish Lindholm had dropped a spot.

So who is our Ottawa scout? Earning their money this year and in the future could be labelled as the saviour

Too bad he was ice cold when getting hot would've been good for the team.

Stoked for this pick. I remember a year ago, he was being discussed for the first overall.

At the end of the day the team was never going to be able so suck bad enough to get Barkov or MacKinnon so ending up 6 wasn't the end of the world.

I've been so immersed in reading about Poirier and Klimchuk that I have to keep reminding myself that we got freakin' Sean freakin' Monahan! I'm confident he'll be a Flame in October.
Can't see the Flames wanting him to go back to Ottawa and play on a crappy team. We'll see though I guess.

Tough choice. Play in the OHL for a bad team but he will dominate or play in the NHL for a bad team where he'll do a lot of tough learning. He'll show in September if he is ready for the NHL or not.
