Essentially Bouwmeester was traded for a 2nd round player not a 1st unless you believe Poirier was going to be picked in the first round by another team.

The last time the Flames flat out won a trade was Kiprusoff. I can't think of any others honestly.
At least Feaster got first round picks for trading away one of the team's best players. Part of the reason the team sucks is that Phaneuf garnered junk (same as all trades with the Leafs)
I'd rather focus on the drafting part of the draft, not the trade part though.

Our draft looks a lot like Ottawa's in 2011: Zibanejad at #6, Noesen at #21 and Puempel at #24.

Rumors are he has a me first attitude and didn't do well at the combine.

Feaster is the GM of an NHL franchise in a hockey crazy country; the notion that he is above criticism is naive.

I believe in the Jays.

No picks traded for marginal "win now" players, 3 skilled forwards (with the best of them being a center), no goaltenders... works for me.

You bring that on yourself. You didn't hesitate to say the Canucks had a better first round than the Flames only because you knew it would be inflammatory and piss people off. Great trolling and worthy of ridicule.
I'd like to address the quality of Vancouver's first round. They drafted a good player in Horvat and an interesting player in Shinkaruk. Horvat is a character guy, but with maybe limited potential. His strength is his two way game, but he went maybe a little early. Shinkaruk was the first round slipper, but that happens. Could be an interesting player. Those are the positives of the draft for Vancouver. Now the negatives. They traded away the guy everyone thought was their starting goaltender. They kept the guy who thought his days were done with the Canucks. The Canucks didn't even talk to Luongo about the deal. There is no guarantee that Luongo will even want to remain with the Canucks. They created a massive hole and goaltender controversy by moving the wrong goaltender. Good management and work at the draft. That cancels out anything positive the Canucks could have done at the draft. They are a team in disarray to be honest.

Why do you think you are so jaded though?
I get why people are bashing Feaster's picks as well, Chucko vol. 2 just seems likely given the crappy past. Mickey Renaud would have been a good leader for the Flames.

Can there be a LESS physical Tanguay?

Interesting that Colorado skipped over Erne considering Roy was his coach.
I will be interested to watch Compher's career as he sounds like a player that Calgary really could have used.

The reason people pile on you for being so negative about the draft picks is because you have absolutely no evidence that the drafting done by Feaster over the past 3 years is such a disaster as you claim.
Take a lot at the top 10 picks over the last 5 years? How many were as great as Pierre and the morons at TSN said they would be? Therefore how the bloody hell does anyone know who will turn out and who wouldn't? Teams have their rankings based on what their own scouts feed them in terms of information plus the interviews they do. No two lists are the same, and no list is based on what Central Scouting says.
Nobody here has a clue if Jankowski will be that #1 center we need, but he is progressing rather nicely, so that off the board pick looks to be turning out SO FAR.
Give these kids a chance. The Chucko pick was a disaster, but who knew that when they drafted him?

The only thing I'm really jaded about is management. I hated that Feaster was brought on as an assistant, I hated that he was grandfathered in to be GM. I think he's bad at his job and I think before he goes he's going to #### up our club and then the next GM will have to start over.
He's going to have to do more than a couple decent deals to earn my trust, especially when he's mixing them up with near disasters.
