Interesting to see if Shinkaruk goes, being just too good to pass up, or if the Canucks try to rebuild their goalie closet right away with this pick.

Feaster didn't take Poirier at 28 because he's got another off-the-board pick planned. I hate that he thinks he's so much more clever than everyone else.

When it comes to drafting, they have been great since Feaster took over.

Burakowsky would have been a better pick than Poirier if they absolutely NEEDED to take a LW. Sigh. Flames.

don't worry, in a week we'll hear that someone right behind us was about to pick Poirer ... just not from anyone else besides Flames management.

I guess we'll find out in 3 or 4 years if this kid develops better than Shinkaruk, Erde, and Zykov.

Good lord cp, talk to me when any of you critisizing have had as many viewings of these players as the scouts have had. I sure haven't, who am I to judge. The kid is a Flame now and for that I'm excited, hope he pans out

Kind of sad but the Canucks are in position to have a better first round than the Flames. Who would have thought?

That's a great way of looking at it. He does have some size and can fly, so that is a thing working in his advantage. Hopefully he works out. It just seems strange to draft yet another LW when the Flmes have zero NHL prospects with NHL potential.

The Flames like him, they liked him enough at 22. He's a skilled player and super fast. Focus on the guy they got and not the guy TSN had in the teens.. who still isn't picked.
|
They said earlier on TSN that Yzerman has been canvassing the floor asking who Florida was going to take. I doubt he was the only one and I'm sure all of these teams have their ears to the ground.

Which is why the pick isn't surprising at all. Flames have been taking character guys the last few years.
I love the fact that he's fast.

I don't mind the pick considering what he brings, but you have to admit its a bit disturbing that they had him in the top 10.
