He'll look good in NJ silks. Good trade, but 'lol' that luongo is staying given that he doesn't want to be there. It's going to be fun watching this organization implode.

Forget who said it but Varlamov got a better return than Schneider
If anything, Luongo's shown himself to be a man of very solid character throughout this soap opera. I don't doubt the issues between he and Gillis will be resolved now.

Lack just came off season ending hip surgery. Lack's window is quickly closing IMO.

I hope Luongo reacts negatively to this. Love it if this somehow blows up in the nucks face.

Schneider is going to be a number 1 goalie in New Jersey, he's also going to study at the feet of the master for a year.

Horvat was an ok pick, but I think he tops as a bottom 6 guy on a good team. Which means in Vancouver he'll probably be a top 6 guy when that core gets exploded.

But he's not a great pick.

Wow no consulting with Bobby Lu?

Kevin Woodley ‏@KevinisInGoal 55s Canucks must be counting on Luongo's professionalism b/c as of late yesterday no one from team had talked to him directly

really weird situation potentially in NJ too

Schnieder is a UFA in 2 years
Brodeur won't want to not be 'the guy'

This will be interesting. If Luongo can get over everything that has happened, this could really help the Canucks in terms of cap and drafting in the top 10. Still really surprised they didn't take Nichushkin.

It's nice that next year neither the Oilers nor the Nucks will have their preferred starting goalie between the pipes.

This should help the Devils not pick top 10 next year. Would be devastating having to give up a high 1st rounder.

On one hand I'm happy because the 'Nucks have a goalie that may not be overly keen to play there, and will most likely screw them in the future with the recapture...

On the other hand, they got a great prospect.

I think because of the Canucks factor Scheider is underrated on here. When you look at his save % and GAA he has clearly become one of the better goalies in the league in the regular season and outplayed Luongo by a good margin, plus he's just coming into his prime.

Horvat is at least a couple years away and his upside is #2 centre. I understand why the Canucks did it but I think they could have done a lot better and the reports out there seem to confirm that the Oilers were offering significantly more.

Great move by VAN. Luongo is the better goalie, and Horvat will be battling Monohan for years to come.

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun 18s 4 teams in the end on Schneider, including Calgary, Edmonton and NJ. Asking price was higher for Flames and Oilers (division)

Lu is pretty quick to go on his tweeter feed to make a joke.

My guess he does not see this as funny.

Luo has the summer to take all this in. I'm sure he'll accept the situation, and go forward knowing that he's the No. 1 goalie. I don't think he'll react negatively.

As for the pick - I think it was a good pick, but they should have got more. What Edmonton was offering was much, much better and they should have bit the bullet and taken it. So what if it is within their division. Edmonton will surpass Vancouver soon anyway - with or without Schneider.

An established #1 goaltender for a projected 2nd/3rd line centre? Methinks the Canucks did very poorly here.

And the good news for New Jersey is that their new goaltender is already familiary with the drama of having a veteran goalie in the background.

The Devils don't have a first rounder next year (Kovalchuk compensation) so if they tanked with Marty and didn't have a pick to show for it, it'd be REALLY bad. Gillis really dropped the ball on this one. Not sure why he gets to stay and Vigneault doesnt.
