Agreed..but the Flames are just so close to what should be a franchise altering day and people's worst fears are creeping up.

You know what this is? This is Feaster/Weisbrod, knowing they have at most 12 months, trying to save their jobs. Not the best interests of the club, but Feaster holding on to his last job.

I'm going to start drinking at 11 am tomorrow ... I'll be good and ready by pick #6. Dull the pain or party like a rock star.

If it were for Seguin and the other pieces involved weren't too much I could make my peace with it. Still I prefer the idea of drafting a top prospect and starting from the scratch with them. It's certainly going to be a nerve wracking 24 hours.

Also in regards to the ages, Seguin is 21 and has 3 years of NHL hockey, Monahan will be 19 when the season starts and is only 1 month younger than Jankowski who was in last years draft. Maybe part of his outstanding season last year in Junior was that he was basically 1 draft year older than his comparables.

Yeah I think we all know that nothing may happen but we simply don't have stable management that we can sit back and place our faith in them making the right decisions. Heck it sounds like even Flames ownership may lack confidence in these guys hence trying to bring in Shanahan. I can't blame them but they should have done something sooner because the damage that can be done this weekend could dog the franchise for years.

I think the NHL knew what they were doing putting the draft on the Sunday before the Canada Day Holiday! Time to get day drunk and watch 7 hours of draft coverage!

If you can trade the sixth for Seguin, you do it. 21 year old Center with high up side and has already won a cup and been to a final. Anybody we draft at 6 we could only hope they turn out as good. We also would still have a ton of cap room.

I have yet to see any quotes from anyone in the Flames organization in this thread.

Feaster is worse than Lowe.

Is that because he's only won 1 cup to Lowe's 5?

Honestly if the result is Seguin why not. He's a few years ahead of the options we'd likely draft at 6. If we can't move up its unlikely we pick Barkov. I don't see Monahan as a 1st line guy and I'm a huge fan of him.
It obviously depends what the rest of the trade pieces are... But I'm not grabbing my pitchfork like others are with this news...

I'd probably accept it if it was for Seguin, however, I don't have faith for Feaster to pull off something decent.

I would like to know more about the injury, does it shorten his career will he miss games, will it affect his play over time. Big question marks before we give away the possible opportunity to land Monahan, Lindholm. Would rather stick with Monahan and Lindholm and be patient with the rebuild.

Meh. Nothing to see here. I have no issue with Feaster saying the pick is available. There should be nothing untouchable on this team in terms of players or picks given the right assets coming back in return.

He was ready to give it up for ROR so no surprise really.

Why would Boston, a team at a cap crunch, trade a stud defenseman who costs them nothing?
