Why can't we just keep the 3 picks. Trade Cammy and Gio for more young assets

I do not trust Feaster to make the right decision. He is a terrible evaluator of talent.

Watch... the 6th to Montreal for Desharnais and Beaulieu... or something stupid like that.

He's not making a crappy deal here, he's letting other teams know what it would take given the amount of demand for a top pick this year. Calm down people, this is something he should explore as he would be negotiating from a position of strength. Doesn't mean he's going to get an offer that blows him away enough to pull the trigger.

The only thing that will make this team better long term is not being stupid. Trading any of the 3 1sts for NHL roster players is stupid and will stunt our ability to be a good team long term. No patience = poor rebuild = no ability to be a cup contender = 10-15 years of wasted time.

Precisely. That seem so scattered.

Roger is connected. If this was dregs I would just laugh.

Feaster never negotiates from a position of strength

well .. i also have fear he's going to ruin the pick

kind of equal odds that a) we draft good b) we draft bad c) we trade bad and the remaining .1% is a good trade

Depends on the return. Giving up the 6 overall for Coburn would be a horrible move. Giving it up for Seguin makes sense.

Also, how do people get so worked up for something that hasn't happened yet and probably won't happen?

How so? We would be damn lucky if #6 turns out to be as good as Seguin. Only on a hockey message board is an unproven #6 pick more valuable than a guy who has already shown a lot and is super young and was a #2 overall pick.

I would trade sixth overall, Gaudreau, and something else for Seguin, but nothing more. I think some people are underestimating Seguin's value/usefulness. He's only 20 years old, and has already shown he's going to be a very good/great player in the NHL for the next decade. Better to get a sure thing, then someone like Nichushkin, Monahan, or Lindholm who may or may not be at Seguin's level.

Surprised so many people are against trading for Seguin though, he's only one a half years older than Monahan, and already has more Cups that the entire Flames team combined.
