He should play the Joker if they ever re-boot Batman again.

Ville Niemenen scored one of the greatest goals in Calgary Flames history.

Yard-sale's Salo into the Glass, hustles up the boards to keep the puck in, scoots around the offensive zone and sashay's past an obliterated Salo, sliding the puck passed Bald Auld.

One of my favourite goals of all time.

I will never forget the Thank You Flames rally at Olympic plaza, where all of the players were introduced...and there on the stage with Ville was his little boy with the cutest little toque. Great memories.

Ville had his own style when agitating and he had great success with it. As he said, the lockout came at the wrong time for him personally and for the Calgary Flames. I would have liked to see him remain a Calgary Flame for a bit longer.

Oh my god, are they just using a weird camera lens for some reason? He looks like the Joker!

My second favourite.

I think Cujo only ended up finding his jockstrap when he got to Calgary.

That Nieminen-Nilson-Donovan line is still one of my favourite lines the Flames have ever iced. They were absolutely dominant during that playoff run. It's not often remembered, but Donovan getting hurt in Game 4 of the Finals (I believe?) was a definite turning point in the series. The Flames just couldn't sustain their attack anymore because the Iginla line was their only threat.

My favourite Nieminen goals include the 2 on 1 goal in the Sharks series, Game 5 I think? The one where he looks off Nabokov and just roofs a snap shot under the bar.

Definitly a fan fav... I thought it would be worth pulling out this old graphic I made back in 2004. We have to play hospital hockey... one of the best quotes ever.

Plus the fact that he calls it a chip-pass back to Iginla from Montador when it's clearly a #4 (i.e. Leopold) on the back of the player's jersey...

Healy's one of the most arrogant broadcasters. Even when he's wrong he's right.

Nieminen only had 8 points that entire run (4 G, 4 A in 24 games) but I can remember and replay in my head almost every single point. They were all that memorable.

Already mentioned in this thread was his streaking goal against Auld and the Canucks.
-His patience on that 2nd goal in 18 seconds against the Wings
-His no look shot on a 2-on-1 that fooled Nabokov (a beauty)

Then there was his spin-o-rama pass to Chris Clarke for a tap-in to tie up game 6 against the Lightning
-His getting hooked in the face to draw a penalty, but continuing the play and finding Nilson? cross ice for a one timer goal against the Sharks.
-and his accepting a pass at center, curling back to draw his defenseman, and leaving it for a streaking Donovan who finished with a beauty deke (Also against the Sharks I believe).

Pretty incredible that of his 8 points, 6 are etched in my memory forever. They were special plays, from a truly intelligent player. The best pest the Flames ever had.

Cause you gotta have lots of patience.

Gold.

And accurate for those 04 Flames. They just let Kipper make the saves, and pound the other team until they started to make mistakes.

He is among my faves, with Oliwa, Iginla, Theo, and Giordano.

Everyone has a role. You become memorable by doing it well and doing it right and doing it with heart.
