I agree. I think with the other two 1st round picks the Flames gamble a bit and take a bit smaller versions of skilled wingers/D. Unless someone falls then you try and trade up for him.

My god this management team is simply brutal.

There is 0 chance that Feaster would pass on Barkov if he dropped.

There would be a greater chance that Feaster would have a heart attack under all the excitement of Barkov falling to the flames, and him running up to the podium to make the pick in fear that it was just a dream.

I think the uncertainty and anxiety about Sunday's upcoming draft are fraying Flames fans nerves. People are getting grumpy and turning on each other for little or no reason. Relax and enjoy the ride ......

Just as an aside, I heard an interview with Seth Jones. His favourite player growing up was Jarome Iginla and favourite team the Flames.

Excited for Sunday come on Monahan let the dice land on Monahan.
If Jones isn't the first pick now as suspected he won't be who knows what happens with TB, NSH, CAR picks Barkov could fall.
Barkov slipping through would be the jackpot!

McKenzie listing the best of this year's draft as voted by 10 NHL scouts

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

Best pure goal-scorer: Anthony Mantha with the win over Drouin, MacKinnon, Shinkaruk. Mantha scored 50 this season.

Best agitator: Plymouth's Ryan Hartman with clear win but guy he fought in Prospects Game Kerby Rychel got a couple of votes.

Toughest prospect: Sam Morin with slight lead over J-I Diaby and Ryan Hartman.

Biggest/hardest hitter: London Knight defenceman Nikita Zadorov.

Jonathan Drouin was runaway leader in 3 categories: best puckhandler, best playmaker, best hockey sense. And it wasn't close in any of them.

Fastest skater: Nathan MacKinnon.

Prospect with the best shot: Brandon dman Ryan Pulock. Seth Jones got a couple of votes too.

Biggest draft day Wild Card prospect: Winger Valery Nichushkin, with 8 out of 10 votes.

Prospect with the most complete game: Aleksander Barkov with the win over Nathan MacKinnon.

Prospect most ready to step into NHL and play now: Nathan MacKinnon tops, Seth Jones runner up.

Was flipping through photos on twitter for the draft, found this:

Funny how physically they're completely different, yet they're the most NHL ready.

So talk about a misquote..

This is exactly what Feaster said from the video on the Flames website:
"We are not going at or approaching from the standpoint of saying that the player we take at 6 has to come in and play or oh what a bad draft it was for us.. we missed. That is not the case at all

But what we would hope is again drafting in a draft that is as good as we perceive this one to be, that with that pick at 6; it will be a player that can come to camp and legitimately to have an opportunity - given the holes in our hockey club - to step in. "

Jones needs to work on his conditioning. Pretty disappointing for one of the consensus best players to come to the combine with a bit of a spare tire and what looks like the early stages of man-boobs.

Thats interesting. As a youtube scout, when we were in the race for 1st overall, while everyone wanted MacKinnon, my youtube expertise wanted Druoin.... don't care about the position (except G)... pick BPA.

According to my youtube scouting, I really like Nichushkin... Monohan is fine too. Really anyone is fine, as long as its not a goalie.

^True, however the way I look at it is, when Jones starts hitting the gym and gets fit, how good will he be? I really think he should be the Avs guy.

^^ I agree!

I think it will be the Avs who take Jones - makes the most sense from an organizational standpoint. I think all this MacKinnon stuff is all a red herring

I see it totally opposite...I'd be excited to pick up a player at his level that's still a 'boy'...his potential growth curve is amazing.

If he keeps playing like Bouwmeester it won't matter much how strong he is.

I don't think there is a chance in hell they take Jones at #1 considering all the comments from everyone in Av's management. If they trade down there will be a chance.
