Hopefully we snag three of these kids in two days.

Does Jankowski have a shot at the WJ team?

Isn't Hockey Canada Notorious for sticking with the CHL and, for the most part, ignoring the NCAA?

Kind of expected if you ask me.

can't see Mack or Drouin attending the camp, let alone playing for Canada in December. Possibly Monahan as well

I don't think Jankowski has earned it yet anyway. He's still got some developing to do. Hopefully next year though.

Did people really expect Jankowski to crack that lineup? Look at the names that are proven junior players. Jankowski hasn't really proven anything yet and clearly isn't viewed as a player at the level of the other names on the list. Jankowski is a project and he's going to be work in progress into his early 20's.

Tough sledding for Jankowski with the center depth on that team.

MacKinnon
Reinhart
McDavid
Horvat
Laughton
Lazar

MacKinnon won't be there. There is a slight chance that Horvat won't be there, depending on who drafts him.

This is a 19 year old tournament and this list is very young. While these players are all talented, the team will need 19 year olds. If McDavid makes it (likely), I very much doubt they keep Reinhart as well.

Jankowski is better today (not talking potential, talking right now) than Lazar and Reinhart for sure, Horvat probably, not familiar with Laughton.

Also, someone has to be able to play in their own zone and bring maturity. Jankowski just spent an entre year developing his 2-way game.

He should definitely be given a chance.

will be interesting to see what kind of role McDavid plays on this team. As great as he already is, it's still a tournament dominated by 19 year olds. Rarely do sub-18 year olds play a significant role let alone 16 year olds

Based on what exactly outside of your own personal opinion that I surmise is in the minority here and certainly in the eyes of Hockey Canada? Kid isn't even strong enough to play center yet as he played on the wing this season.

An easier way to look at it is that you have to be bon in 1994 or later

Still could make it as guys have been added that didn't go to summer camp but he would have to have a huge start to his season and even then it is doubtful.

People claim this all the time (especially if their prospect was left off and is in the NCAA) but really it has a lot more to do with a large majority of the best Canadian juniors playing in the CHL and the NCAA guys not being good enough. If you are a top 18/19 year old in the NCAA you will have no problem making the team.

As many have mentioned a lot of guys who go the NCAA route do so because they need more development time and aren't as likely to be ready at 18/19 as the CHL guys are.

I know you're smarter than that. Young Cs are often put on the wing as an easier way to transition into a higher league and get a chance to learn before being put back at C. Lindholm is another example. It doesn't say anything negative about the player, it is just good coaching and good development.

As for the my opinion thing, yeah that's kind of what we do here.

If you would like to present a case showing how an under-age Reinhart is better today than Jankowski who is 2 years ahead of him, feel free.

As for Jankowski not being strong enough to play C... maybe you didn't see the report that he is now 190 lbs. I am willing to bet (purely my opinion here) that he is stronger than any of those kids you listed, with the possible exception of Horvat.

Easy. Reinhart has played against better competition his entire junior career and excelled. Jankowski has high school and one season with Providence College under his belt and is work in progress.

Riley Nash who was much further ahead as a player at the same age didn't make the team out of college. I don't think there is much hope for Jankowski.

Jankowski will have to have an unbelievable season to make the World Juniors. He had a solid start to his NCAA career but not nearly enough to get invited to the camp. There is a good chance he will be much better than a lot of those players on that list in 5 years, but because he was playing in a crap Quebec league he will be a late bloomer.

I would prefer Reinhart, McDavid and Lazar on this team over Jankowski for sure and for two way, maturity well Laughton, Monahan are both easily much further ahead in those areas, Gauthier likely on par with more offense/size, Horvat likely ahead outside of maybe maturity (but who knows about that).

Jankowski is behind a lot of guys in terms of C depth, not a fit at all to play top 6 wing at this point and probably not a fit bottom six wing either.

Nothing wrong with that it is a very tough team to make and plenty of good players didn't make the team and went on to be okay at the NHL level. Jankowski was always more of a long term prospect so not surprising that he is not ready for the elite level quite yet.
