I don't understand how people are upset about this trade.
Seriously. Put yourselves in the shoes of an Avs fan. Do you really want Tanguay and Sarich on your team? If you said yes you are a liar.
Flames get younger, stronger, faster, and harder to play against. All while addressing a glaring hole on right wing.
Good trade Feaster, I like the cut of your jib on this one.

This trade just seems kind of pointless.

Maybe hard to play against was the wrong thing to say but we did get more physical and bigger. 2 things this org needs. It is not like we are a playoff team anyway

These two players were absolutely hated by Avs fans, and for good reason. You guys hate it when Glencross goes full ######... you're going to to go insane with SOB. David Jones is also an AHL skater with a Jeff Carter wrist shot. He is awful.
2 years left on SOB's deal, 3 for Jones. Absolutely brutal stuff for the Flames, and I'm sick of it.
What a terrible day for Flames fans. Shunned by Shanahan, and Feaster makes another one of his patented trades.
We should be very afraid for draft day.

Who are you talking to? HE BOARDS doesn't count.
Everybody in the media is calling it a pretty even trade, on both sides.
Avs got the most talented player but the Flames got younger and harder to play against.
Jones is a Glencross comparison, from 2010 to 2012 Glencross had 50 goals in 146 games. Jones has 47 in 149 games the last couple seasons.

Tanguay was just going to sulk until he was traded. Not to mention several fans were getting sick of his pass first choice, pass second choice decision making.
When Tangs was really clicking with Iggy it was great but next season he wasn't going to be the same player and the Flames brass saw that.
We get younger and bigger, good.

We lost the trade by taking on a 4 million dollar cap hit for the next 4 years on a player who was borderline buyout-worthy.
This has the potential to surpass Kotalik as taking on all time bad contracts. Fingers crossed that it was just the situation in Colorado, but we should have at least grabbed a draft pick for taking on the larger and longer term in a lesser effective player

We are not just a worse team today, we are in worse shape down the road as well.
I expect these 2 players to be bought out whenever we get a management change, which hopefully is soon.

Tanguay should have gotten more?
Laughable.
PRO Scouts watched him and their evaluation was dead on
He fooled nobody.

We need to get bigger, but they also need to be decent players.
I think it's pretty easy for an outsider to say the Avs won this trade because Tanguay is easily the most skilled of the lot ... but whatever. As a Flames fan you can't really honestly believe this is anything more than a push unless you're just trying to spin it. Both team shipped out problems, the Flames didn't get better or worse in relation to what next season is going to be (a disaster) and the Avs get someone who can dish to their talent. People who are saying we "won" because of Tanguay sulking are deluding themselves.

After every trade the Flames are the laughing stock now. I can debate with people who actually want to debate and talk the trade but honestly the Flames are just the trend to pick on now. People who know nothing about the players involved make fun of the Flames. Im pretty sure from my talks with other fans the Flames lost this trade because Tanguay is a houehold name. They just go off his past success and say the Flames traded him for that "garbage"?!?! without actually knowing how Tanguay has been playing recently.
I dont see why this trade has to be labelled a winner or loser trade. I think both teams fixed some holes, nothing major but something different that both teams needed. I think thats whats wrong these days with hockey fans, I think every trade needs to have a "winner" to boost some fan ego or something....

yup... tack on another 500K and you'll get 22 points projected over an 82 game season... psst, that was Jones' performance...

I don't mind this trade, this seems like a trade where two teams possible buyouts just swapped teams and if they work out great, if not always next year to buy them out. I am glad the flames are trying something different, at least we are not going into another year with the same group that hasn't worked in the past. I think if any year is a good year to try different things this is the year as those buy outs are a great asset to have .

Well, his 5 year contract was a mistake from the start and this is us paying the piper. Hopefully the next management team learns lessons from this Sutter/Feaster regime.

His contract still brings him close to 37 when it's over. I don't know what we should have been hoping for for a return but it couldn't have been a ton. I mean the fans of other teams suggesting the Flames got robbed were the same ones laughing yesterday because the Flames had a contract like Tanguays on the team.
I'm not going to mistake Jones for Gretzky any time soon here but if he bounces back at all and chips in a couple goals here and there, I don't know how anyone can consider this an embarrassment. And being 5 years younger than Tanguay there's at least a hope he might be able to contribute as a role player once the rebuild ends.
Was it a win? Nah. Did the Flames lose? I don't see it.

This trade is good enough just by getting rid of the NMC itself

Feaster gave up a 2nd round pick to get out of 1 year left of Kotalik's contract.
He'll be giving up a couple first round picks to get out of Jones' contract in a couple years.

The only positive out of this is that Colorado is seemingly ok with dealing with us again after the ROR sheet(although I think this probably has more to do with new management). Only saying it because I think Friedman pointed it out in our 3 1st for 1OA proposal.
Now that they know they can rip off Feaster I'm sure they're all ears for another proposal.
