Also true.
I'm inclined to believe a zebra doesn't change it's spots.
Games should be more fun to watch with him in the lineup.

If Jones turns out to be a Bourque I think the Flames and fans will do well to wait out the low spots for the high spots.
Bourque was an early victim of the Flames going small and soft...... He ended up being one of the few guys that were forced to carry the club physically and did not enjoy that role.

Top line? He didn't even score at .5 ppg pace that is brutal for a 1st line w.

No we didn't, but we didn't lose it either. This is just a change, I don't see it as a gain unless the goal is just to get younger to lower the average age without putting weight on the quality of the player. It's not a loss because Tanguay and Sarich ... meh whatever.

how did we lose this trade? Sarich wasn't in the plans, even last year obviously the coaching staff saw him as 7th or 8th in the depth chart.
Tanguay was just going to sulk until he was traded. Not to mention several fans were getting sick of his pass first choice, pass second choice decision making.
When Tangs was really clicking with Iggy it was great but next season he wasn't going to be the same player and the Flames brass saw that.
We get younger and bigger, good.

There is no way we won this trade.
Nobody but Flames fans think this trade is even close. It is absolutely embarrassing. Tanguay may have been sulking, but he was putting up pretty damn good point totals for his cap hit. Sarich, while a 7th defenceman, only had a year left on his contract. SOB has 2.
These two players were absolutely hated by Avs fans, and for good reason. You guys hate it when Glencross goes full ######... you're going to to go insane with SOB. David Jones is also an AHL skater with a Jeff Carter wrist shot. He is awful.
2 years left on SOB's deal, 3 for Jones. Absolutely brutal stuff for the Flames, and I'm sick of it.
What a terrible day for Flames fans. Shunned by Shanahan, and Feaster makes another one of his patented trades.
We should be very afraid for draft day.

wait, we traded Bourque and a 2nd in this year's draft for Cammy? I thought we won that trade?
edit, just saw Vinny's post, thank god!

I agree it is tough to declare a winner today. The flames got tougher to play against but lost a skill playmaker. We addressed a need and the Avs got a good player who only plays well when he is motivated which is ~50% of the time at best

We got 2 younger and bigger players on brutal contracts. We also squandered an asset in Tanguay who should have gotten more.
We are not just a worse team today, we are in worse shape down the road as well.
I expect these 2 players to be bought out whenever we get a management change, which hopefully is soon.

You need a stiff drink today man. The doom and gloom is radiating off of you. It's not nearly as catastrophic as you are making it out to be.

I don't think we got tougher to play against. It's nice that they're younger and bigger, but they're not good. We can't just focus on height and weight.
This trade just seems kind of pointless.

What other fans. You mean hf boards fans? Who cares what those clowns think? Worst case the flames buyout Jones next summer. Not a terrible day at all you are being a drama queen

He only put up two points in the 8 games after we traded Iginla...
20 point pace over 82 games. Pretty sweet for his cap hit.

Our management group thinks they are smarter than everyone else, when reality is they are firmly mounted at the bottom of all 30 teams.
The only 2 good moves this team has made in the last 3 years was drafting Baertschi and Gaudreau. That's proving to be dumb luck.

I'm happy Tanguay is gone. Addition by subtraction in my opinion. Got a tonne of respect for Sarich but he's broken down. I'm cautiously optimistic about Jones, hope he can regain his form. O'Brien....well not gonna lie, I have similar feelings when Marchment came to the team, I'm looking forward to his grit but man he's a d-bag.
