I can't think of any other players who have managed to sulk their way off the same team, twice.

Sometimes if we've fallen quiet in the WHL thread I'll wander over and read that section, find the junior board is one of the only tolerable parts, although it's not the most active.

Agreed. Unless there are a lot Flames players or staff masquerading as CP posters, no one has any idea if he is a "cancer" or not.
seems like pure conjecture and speculation.

Can't believe after the first time, we thought it would be smart to give him a 5 year contract and NMC.

Do you think its fair to say Jones might be like Bourque 2.0? Same size and it sounds like Jones uses his body inconsistently which reminds me so much of Bourque. Plus Bourque would go on inconsistent scoring streaks which almost sounds like it could be Jones. I still dont know if I like the trade or not (I dont hate it though) but if Jones turns out to be almost like a Rene Bourque type player I dont think it will be that bad.

I like the trade for the simple reason that it adds some size to the line-up and it's something we were lacking...we can all speculate about how good or bad the players will be but until they hit the ice no one knows for sure (thank me captain obvious).

Not sure about the PP, but of his 21 EV goals that year here's how many he scored with each center:
Duchene: 10
Stastny: 6
Fleischmann: 3
O'Reilly: 2

Not minding the trade..
Honest question: Is SOB at least better than Butler?

I'm not going to comment on the trade itself, but I'm happy that the Flames are moving out the players that were part of the 'don't hate to lose' attitude. I look at all these deals as part of the new beginning.
I don't think the Flames will be very good for a bit, but purging the roster of the guys that couldn't win (or cared to win) is a step in the right direction IMHO.

I'm not doubting, but was there a media source where Tanguay said he was unhappy. I haven't read any, but I've heard about it for years.

Many people questioned the Colorado Avalanche - as they did the Predators - when Shane O'Brien was signed to a one-year, $1.1 million contract on July 13, 2011. Just like the team before them, though, the Avs realized that you can't believe all you read in the media. O'Brien himself said, "The reputation I had in Vancouver was not entirely true, but that is the way things go sometimes, they get blown out of proportion." He wasn't the only one who felt that way, either. Ryan Porth of Red Light Hockey District insisted that, "The stuff that came out about him from Vancouver was media-driven. He’s a great/fun guy. Nothing but a class act in Nashville."
O'Brien's "new" reputation is showing him for what a lot of people truly believe he is: a hard-working professional who brings grit and skill to the ice, as well as laughter and life to a locker room. He's also proving to be more than just an enforcer. In his first three games with Colorado, he has logged the fourth most time on ice both in even strength and on the penalty kill. He's also seen some time on the power play. All of the added responsibility has been deserved; through camp, preseason and now the early regular season, the 6'3", 230 lb defenseman has been one of the highlights.

Well, let's see:
1) Keenan turns him into a valuable player by having him on the PK and playing defense. Instead of being a team player, he requests a trade.
2) This season.
Intellectual honesty, fool me twice, all that stuff - I think I have pretty damn good measure of Tanguay...

I really don't like this trade, but this is purely what I've come to expect with this management.
SOB and Jones are without question the two dumbest players in the league. Jones is also on a brutal contract.
I would have preferred any combination of draft picks.
I expect no more than a 4th rounder for Cammalleri.

O'brien for Sarich is a win in terms of playing defence. In regard to leadership and being a role model for the young guys it's a huge loss. SOB strikes me as a huge d-bag

*shudder*
As much as I don't want to dip too much into the UFA pool, I can't imagine this team winning more than 10 games all year with that group.
|
There are going to be a couple of UFA's added -- Clarkson - Bickell or Clowe
the 3rd line of Glencross - Monahan - Stempniak is really that bad?
These are all NHL calibre players. Who would not be picked up if they were wived?
Outside of the Goalies and Cundari and Butler which individual would clearly not be added to a top teams roster ?

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Sweat poured off the face of Shane O'Brien as he plopped himself down at his locker stall after Tuesday's morning skate with the Avalanche. He had the satisfied look of a hockey player after a great workout, and he chatted amiably with teammates, occasionally offering a good-natured chirp.
Unfortunately for O'Brien, morning practices have been the only time he has had that satisfied feeling of late. Tuesday night, however, that began to change. For only the seventh time this season, O'Brien found himself penciled in the lineup against the San Jose Sharks. Despite injuries to veterans such as Erik Johnson (concussion) and Ryan Wilson (ankle), O'Brien had been passed over by coach Joe Sacco in favor of youngsters such as Stefan Elliott and Tyson Barrie, but Elliott was the healthy scratch this time on Tuesday.
How did it all go wrong this year for a guy who signed a three-year, $6 million contract to stay with the Avs last summer, when he might have been able to get more money on the unrestricted free-agent market?
Before the game, O'Brien didn't seem to have many answers.

which makes this organization pretty stupid doesn't it? Also makes Colorado pretty dumb too, wanting to acquire someone that is a cancer in the room for a second go around?
like the trade, don't like the trade, whatever.
But if you haven't played with the guy or spoken directly with someone who has, it is still speculation and/or heresy.
