Yeah you may be right there. Not that I mind either way, but would be kinda fun to have at least something to cheer for this year. Although I'm just as fine icing a team full of young future talent and sacrificing a year or two to build something special.
Just think you can still do that while having one or two big name players to help the youth along.

Clearly they are targetting MacKinnon or Barkov. Not sure we'll be able to land either of them

He is just being Feaster and talking. Cammalleri makes more sense as a deadline deal then a summer deal. He is just appeasing the winger and the fan base. You aren't getting much for him in the summer.
If the Flames are out of it at the deadline (probable) and he doesn't want to sign a reasonable extension they there will be lots of takers. Especially of 1-line / 1-PP lets him pad his stats a bit.

I just hope that if the Flames can't pull off a trade to move up for those players, they do the smart thing and pick Lindholm/Monahan, rather than try to get cute and trade down.
I am really afraid of what might happen on draft day.

I think Lecavalier makes a lot of sense for the Flames if they can get him on a short term deal. 2 years at $4-$5M per.
If Cammi isn't dealt prior to the draft, Lecavalier will certainly be helpful in upping his value for the deadline.
With the core being ripped apart, leadership is something the Flames desperately need, Lecavalier provides this.
With our centre depth being our main issue, having an experienced vet of his caliber is a vital asset in the youth development, especially if the Flames draft a high end centre this year and next. I would hate to see top tier prospects attempt to develop at the NHL level under Stajan. I think this is why we haven't seen Backlund develop the way we had all hoped.
I say bring on Vinny!!

If the Flames have any shot at Vinny, I feel like it's going to take a four year deal between 5-7 a year.
As for Burmistrov for the 22nd, I'd rather take my chances with developing a potential Hartman or Zykov at that slot. The Pittsburgh pick + I'd be cool with though.

I would only want Burmistrov for the 22nd if we drafted Nichushkin at #6.

Cammy won't be a Flame to start the 2013-14 season.

You just know he's going to pick Lecavalier off waivers.

/sigh. Lecavalier won't be going on waivers as he has earned that right with his NTC. That makes Bryz, Vinny and Briere all able to NOT go on waivers during the buy out process. It's been covered plenty on CP today.

Lecavalier doesn't have to go on waivers.
And even if he did Feaster quit because he hated that contract, I doubt he would want to pick it up now.

Quote on that? I'm pretty sure he quit because his autonomy was shrinking by the day, supplemented with the hiring Lawton as VP of hockey OPS making him a superior and his boss and forming a trifecta committee(with Koules and Barrie) on hockey matters. Feaster was a sitting duck, who was probably embarrassed by the mockery made out of his position.
He's shown he has no problem offering huge money to players over long deals, and a guy that as a captain had a cup and scored 200 points in 2 years whilst only missing a game is about as close as you're going to get to a player that could justify a massive contract. Things obviously soured after the deal for Vinny, but he was the franchise's(and league's) Jordan according to their owners before they drafted him and he was paramount in making anything out of the Lightning anything resembling a success in TB.
