Good place for auto sound system upgrade in Calgary?
Hey guys, I bought a new car and am looking to get an after-market sound system installed at some point int he next couple months. Would be looking to upgrade my speakers (obviously wiring as well) and install a sub.
I've never really had to do this before - any recommendations as to where in Calgary would be a good, trusted place to do this at a reasonable price?

Dealing with the same issue.
Went to Auto Temp or something like that in the NE, 32nd ave. No prices on products and they just ramble prices and throw out install times, oh... 3 hours at $75 per.
Went to Audio Concepts, 32nd ave, again, no prices on anything... same ramble, but install went to 4 hours and $80 or $85.
Couldn't get firm prices on anything, "oh, something like that would be in the $500 area" "rear camera, say $300"
First question was "what is your budget" which then I felt like I was being showing the same product regardless if I had said anything $300 lower. Who knows, there's no prices or info available to show what you're getting.
Went to visions... stood around, was told I'd be helped in a minute, wasn't... waited... needed to pee... Left
Futureshop Northland, dump, barely anything there, hidden in a hole, no one noticed me, went to ask for help and kid was walking the other way, I left.
Never thought I'd miss Soundsaround.
Best Buy "sold" their product lines to Futureshop, whatever that means.
I forgot what an awful business auto stereo equipment was. I've given up for maybe 6 months and feel pity for you both. Let me know if you don't get that icky feeling from somewhere and maybe I'll try them.

I just bought a Parrot Asteroid Classic. I am pleased with it.
As for the dealer, it was through my place of work, so of course they were excellent in my dealings with them.

I have a couple of 10" subs in my garage, together with 2 amps, one 4 channel and one mono amp. If anyone is interested let me know, I'd let them go cheap.

If you want to do the research you could buy all the components yourself and then take them somewhere to be installed. This way you can find the parts the cheapest online likely and won't have to deal with markup from the shops as much.

I've dealt with Visions a couple years ago(one on Macleod SE) and they were really good. Got an aftermarket deck and sub installed. You can also request (well you could) custom boxes for you subs depending if you would need one and where you wanted to place it in your car. The audio guys at the time really knew their stuff and could answer basically any question you asked them
I know a few other people who also got stuff done by them and thought they did a good job as well.
You can also talk them down a bit in price, depending on who is working.

I used Soundsaround to have a stereo installed in my car years ago. $160 to install a deck and two speakers. When I went to pick it up it was $380. WTF?
More recently I was looking to have a Sirius sat radio professionally installed and I went to Soundsaround. The guy there was extremely helpful. I didn't go ahead with the installation but the salesperson knew his stuff...prices, parts etc. so I will return when I finally decide to get it done.
Anyone have any knowledge about the Pioneer AppRadio? http://www.pioneerelectronics.ca/POC...pRadio.Compare
I'm sure it is overkill for a car.

In the past I haven't had great luck with a lot of shops (hack jobs, insufficient grounding, butt connectors, poor care taken with interior panels, etc) in this city like Audio Concepts, Soundsaround, etc so I do my own installs. Not only do I do a far better job I actually find makes for a nice weekend where I can get some peace from work and my family. Car audio installs are actually pretty simple if you have the tools, heat gun, and a solder iron. Just need to ensure you have the correct wiring harnesses and any adapters for steering wheel controls, bluetooth integration, etc.

Yeah, definitely don't have the tools or the knowledge of how to do it... although I'm a quick learner and could learn that part fairly fast.
I live in a condo, so no garage space either.

2013 Ford Focus SE Hatchback... has the Titanium ordered, but changed my mind at the last minute. Figured I could get the same car without the NAV or the sound system, and spend $6000 less. Really, for me, it was the smarter decision.
Also, my Titanium had a black / white leather trim. Frickin' beautiful. Wish I still kinda had it.

I've got some stuff i'm willing to sell for a decent offer:
2-12inch alpine type r subwoofers - single voice coil
CDA-9815 alpine cd/mp3 deck
set of 6 1/2 alpine type r component speakers
set of 6x8 alpine type 6 rear speakers
Rockford Fosgate p6002 amplifier can be bridged to mono from two channel for subwoofers
Rockford Fosgate p4004 amplifier for the speakers
I might have some pieces of dynamat laying around and some other stuff. The Subs come in a box. I can post pics if you're interested.
Also thanks for reminding me I had these, might as well sell them

Congratulations on the new car, enjoy it well!
Good call on skipping out on Nav. I feel like those things are the most ridiculously overpriced tech in cars today. They charge you thousands of dollars, yet its older tech than than a current standalone GPS... and it will be very dated in only a couple of years. All you really pay for is the form-factor of it being in the dash. Just get yourself a new Garmin and you're ahead of the game at a fraction of the cost.

These guys are insanely good, and every dealer in the city uses them now. Their installs are OEM quality. Don't let the crappy website fool you. Visit the shop and you will see what I mean. They have stuff that looks like it came from the factory.

I've been wanting to upgrade the audio equipment in my vehicle for the past year or so. Never heard of these guys, what's their pricing like?

I'm also looking to get my new system installed, visions quoted me $400 to install a deck, amp and sub box. Called mobile solutions, they are booking in a week to week & a half, don't really want to wait that long.

Or. . . Like the other shops do they have pricing? Or just sell on a whim as you come through the door.
