1-2 years, fine. Pay him whatever you want... but Vinny should not be thought of as part of the future of this team if we go after him. He will not be around when we start to compete again.

Vinny will be highly sought after and will get a nice deal. Feaster shouldn't offer him what the high asking price will be, so I want nothing to do with this.

If it's short term and low salary, sure, why not, but there's no chance Vinny settles for something small. He's gonna get a nice contract.

Don't know if it's been said yet, but if this is true, I'd put money on a Tampa/Colorado trade. Tampa moves up to #1 and takes MacKinnon, Colorado moves down to #3 and takes Drouin.

Sign him for $10 million then trade him where he wants to go for a 1st rounder and Flames pay half the contract. A win-win-win.

Vinny wins... $10 million
Other team wins... they get Vinny for $5 million
Flames win... just bought a 1st round pick for $5 million

I figured that price tag was more then any other team would want to take on in a trade-buyout scenario. I think the Flames will put a bid in on him, and why not... Lecavalier is still a good player just not good enough to justify his contract, actually I think a lot of teams will put a bid in on him as he instantly becomes the best free agent option at center. He probably doesn't sign here but hopefully Feaster will help jack up the price on whoever does.

Feaster quit as Tampa Bay GM rather than sign Lecavalier to this contract that TB had to buy him out at.

That was probably the high point of Feaster's managerially career....... but do not see how that would make him a special friend of Lecavalier........

Imaginary quote " Gee Jay looks like you were spot on right that I (or anyone else) was not anywhere worth the contract that my agent wanted. If TB would have listened to you I would have been out $20 or so million....... But then you had time to think about it and offered Brad R. almost as much...... so now how about $7M/year for 10 years?"

If Lecavalier gets $5M then does Iginla get more than 7M?

Iginla had 43 goals in 2010-11 and 32 goals in 2011-12 with no one in the Stamkos/St.Louis calibre as team mates.

Its been 6 years since Lecavalier got more than 30 goals.

Yeah, I seriously doubt that any conversation between Feaster and LeCavalier bears even a passing resemblance to this. Most likely, both are mature enough to understand the business implications of what happened nearly half a decade ago when LeCavalier was signed, and how much has changed since then.

I don't see the upside from Vinny's point of view to sign in Calgary

Darn it! I had such high hopes of Barkov some how becoming a Flame. I think the writing is on the wall now:

1. MacKinnon
2. Jones
3. Barkov
4. Drouin

Why the eff would the Flames want this guy? Is he going to be a component to return this team to a contender? EVERY roster decision needs to be made with that as the starting block.

Uh oh, you did it now.

I hope your ready for a barrage of incoherent, rambling, nonsensical posts filled with stats, heights, weights and question marks.

As for Vinny, can't see him coming here. Maybe if we were a contender, but even then I would assume he'd rather stay out east somewhere.

Teams won't be paying Vinny for his goal production. They will pay him for playing a 200' game and being a center that can still play with a bit of an edge.

Sorry to dissapoint any of the "White Nights of Iggy's table" but more teams are going to be after Vinny than Iggy.

Because he's a good hockey player that will help make your entertainment product more entertaining in the short-term and in the probable event of a short-term contract becomes a moveable asset with which to procure a longer term asset?

I mean I could see Lecavalier signing a $$ rich 1 year deal with Calgary on the expectation that he probably get's traded to a contender at the deadline and can then go back to Tampa/Florida on a more reasonable deal.

No way that he ends up in Calgary as the Flames are rebuilding and its not a good fit. I could see him going to Montreal or Toronto who are competitive teams with cap space in the east. I seem to remember Montreal getting Dennis Savard toward the end of his career and taking a shot at Tanguay a few years ago. Toronto could sign him just to keep Montreal from getting him.

I don;t see the Canucks taking him on either as Torts and Lacavalier did not get along and he wants an eastern team.

double fail..... Rather than reading for spelling you should work on your comprehension skills.

The purpose of the imaginary quote was to show how far apart in friendship, business relationship and willingness to do another deal Feaster and Lecavalier would be based on how their last transaction went.

Who the heck is LeCavalier ? a nickname or something your spell checker generated?
