It says something like the money was wired to Brandt's foundation. I think it only fair we Calgarians take our coffee or pop money for a day and return the favour but instead of $900 we add three zeros to the end of it.

Totally agree. Props to any establishment that is doing something to help the cleanup effort but I was down in Mission helping out for most of today and I was blown away by the amount of food and drink down there supplied by ordinary people. Donuts, pizza, muffins, sandwiches, water, pop, beer....you name it. And this is being offered by people who still have no power, no gas, and whose houses are literally torn apart. We cleaned out one lady's basement and she had a portable campstove set up in the back yard that she was using to cook with, and still she kept trying to feed us. Although I was getting really hungry I just felt guilty taking food from people I was there to help. So many things about this flood suck so much, but seeing the way people have come together to look after each other has been amazing. I have never been prouder to be a Calgarian.

I think the thing about places like the Red Cross is that they are disaster response. They show up very fast with assistance at the ready. They have to be prepared ahead of time for any disaster and have to spend the money before it can come in.
I see it as they spent money helping Calgary with the money they raised after the last disaster. The money they raise after Calgary will be spent on the next disaster where ever that is. It is sort of a pay it forward system.

Agreed, I see it as a "re-stocking fee".

My mom told me Mayor Nenshi visited her home and toured her home in Sunnyside last night. Awesome! Luckily the river didn't reach her place but a ton of water came up through the basement shower .
She already had a check from insurance. She is extremely lucky

Is there any indication as to when the outdoor water ban is ending? We hired someone a month ago to install sod, but we've had to hold off because of the water ban.

I too am curious on who's insurance has been good to deal with for when I switch my insurance in a few weeks. My adjuster has told me that my sewer back up is not covered by my sewer back up rider since the sewer back up was a result of above ground flooding. Woo insurance!

Apparently this guy thinks the water ban does not include washing your garage door:

So I was supposed to move out of my condo (I'm renting) by June 30th and a new tenant was scheduled to move in July 1st. Now, it's physically impossible for me to move out (and for someone to move in) by the 30th as it looks highly unlikely that we will be let back into the building before the month ends - is anyone familiar with the laws in this regard? Am I on the hook for the rent from July 1st on until I can get my things out?

When you talked to your landlord what did he have to say?
