Who knows, maybe fellow Finn Jarmo can talk Kipper into going to Columbus for at least one season.

Would people seriously like to see Kipper playing for Columbus just so that we could get a late draft pick out of it?

If he is considering another year I would love to see him play it out here more than anything. But I would also enjoy just watching him play out a full season period. By far one of the greatest Flames of all time!

Long live Kipper!

I would love to see another year which is a full season without 4 and with new blood at C.

Terrible circumstances for a last season we just witnessed. Poorly built team looking over their shoulders waiting for the shoe to drop. He deserves better.

Classy player, un-classy way to announce it. Sorry Kipper, loves ya and all but that was freakin weak.

Either Kipper decided some time ago and he and the Flames have been waiting for each other to make it official or it's based on old information and the Flames are more up to date.

I mean, to be clear, this comes from team Finland's head coach who reluctantly related the information in the press conference where they made their Sochi list public. So Kipper had told him that he's retiring and if the Flames have not said anything by the time the list is revealed, the coach can say it.

That's correct. I'd like to add that the coach started his comment by stating that he had talked with Kipper "earlier in the spring", and that's when Kipper told him of his plans.

It sounds to me like Kipper got tired of waiting for the Flames to announce it.

That's how it sounds to me too. If that's the case, the Flames deserve the blame, not Kipper.

That's the perfect Kipper way to go. He doesn't care what anyone thinks.

Except for the part where this story is based off a comment Kipper made a couple months ago.

Listening to Francis' take on the Fan right now.

Kinda threw up in my mouth listening to him. Didn't think I could despise someone so much.

Typical Francis nonsense being overly critical just to get some attention. I already forgot most of it.

As for Kipper I didn't like the way he went out last year whith Hartley's system hanging him out to dry on a nightly basis. If he still wants to play and there's a draft pick or two in it for the Flames I would be totally fine with him playing in Columbus as they play a good defensive system that will help Kipper look like Kipper again and not the old guy that was getting shelled behind a team that had no commitment to defense.
