Are they near the cap where his salary actually matters?
If so, this is the wrong move... they should look to spend some cap in the UFA market..or trade an entry-level player for a good D (which will need cap space)

TSN was reporting a contract extension for Sam Gagner earlier. That
That is most likely one of the "earth shattering" deals.

So it's not keeping Horcoff and being high on Paul Ranger's interest list?!?!

That makes no sense. They gave him and his agent the oportunity to find a trade after Edmonton could not find a trade to their liking. Now they might have him stay? If they are going to buy him out, they are better off using the first buyout period that does not count against the cap.

There's absolutely no way Horcoff can be an Oiler next season, is there? What are they going to strip him of the captaincy, then keep him on the team for the next few years? They can't be insane enough to attempt that. Just buy him out if you can't trade him (no chance they can without taking bad contracts in return). Keeping him on the team would be the dumbest movie they could make. Sounds like something the Oilers would do I guess, but seems strange because of the compliance buy outs.

What the hell is your problem? Changing my username and saying a useless thing like that just like the other 2-3 times in the last 10 posts? I said they had 2 deals that will be announced after the Stanley Cup Finals.......the Gagner deal as reported by the media today should be announced soon. That is 1.

I was actually putting together a multi-quote to point this out.
Oilfan #81 has proven time and again to be a very reliable source of information, and I see no reason to doubt him in this case either, especially not in such an obnoxious and juvenile manner.

What's your deal, dude? It's still after the cup finals isn't it? Oilfan is a good poster with inside info from time to time. Your jimmies are getting rustled because the finals have been over for a whole 24 hours and only one of the two deals has been confirmed? Give me a break.

My guess is the morning after the buy out phase begins everything come to a boil in terms of trades. By my calculations that should be thursday morning.

I asked you a simple question twice. Once because I put it in the wrong thread and once because I realized I put it in the wrong thread then replied to your post in which you made your false claim. I did not do it 3 or 4 times like you claim. So ease up with your hissy fit.
My problem is you're acting like some big insider with these secret deals that you were sworn to secrecy about. Then MacTavish has his big press conference and no deals announced. Now anyone with a big of logic working for them would know that that would be the proper time to announce any completed deals.
And deal doesn't imply contract extension. Deal implies trade. No one really cares if Gagner signs which obviously wasn't done or it would have been announced at the press conference.

I completely agree. Either you tell us what the deals are next time and prove yourself or just shut up about them. No one cares if you are an insider if you have nothing to tell.
As for deals, are you really suggesting Gagner is one?!? On a Flames forum, a deal would imply a trade, not a friggen Oilers signing.

Lighten up Francis. There's no need to go all passive aggressive and play the martyr. So your "insider" info didn't pan out. It's not a big deal. Literally.

Wasn't playing "martyr". Was just saying there is no point of arguing about it when there is way more important stuff happening NHL wise such as the draft. Pointless talking about something so petty.
Almost draft time!

Interesting news from Ottawa. Tim Murray of the Senators suggested that his team is interested in a 3 for 1 deal.
Wonder who would be moving from Ottawa.

Just so I get this the right way around, are the sens shipping out three players or receiving three??
If they are shipping out three and getting one back could they be looking at Letang from PIT?? The pens have a pretty bare cupboard and could use some prospects from the sens?
Just a thought.
