Am I wrong in finding it morbidly humourous/ironic that the biggest hit to the zoo during a major flood...was a couple species that live in water?

I think it relates to the ".. finding it morbidly humourous" portion of your quote.

Unless you are just trying to start an argument, in which case, carry on.

I didn't know the zoo had tilapia fish. Isn't that the same fish Superstore sells?

Yep, I think they were in the hippo pool. They are poo eaters, and hippos produce lots of poo.

This is exactly why I refuse to eat them! I know that probably makes no sense and someone else can probably point out something else I would eat that is gross, but what can I say...I'm childish in that way.

Unfortunately, it sounds like some of the Giraffes could die.

Giraffes @calgaryzoo were very cold, very wet. They're sensitive animals. Have to face reality that some may not make it, say staff. #chlive

Is this a once in a 100 year event or a new normal?

If we work at it, we can still avoid a new normal.

According to the Municipal Affairs Minister, it is a millennial event:

Looks like Dave Rutherford has been sacked by Corus, just short of his retirement from radio, for criticizing their flood coverage.

Just in time to start a ill-advised mayoral bid.

Well I normally agree with very little that Rutherford has to say, but this is one spot where I totally agree with him. Having the Edmonton radio is virtually useless.
