Kind of ashamed to admit it, but had they traded him to the Leafs during the trade deadline, I probably would have cheered for the Leafs in the playoffs.

Are you talking about the Flames or the Blue Jackets?

Love Kipper but I'm happy he's taking this route. I didn't want to see him get lit up for a season behind a young, rebuilding team. He obviously wants to go out quietly and I think that's really classy, although he certainly deserves all of the fan fare in the world. Now, we can see what Berra and Ramo are made of and not cringe at the sight of one of the best goalies ever to put on the flaming C being peppered night in and night out.

Obviously. But I'm talking about post-Cup era Flames. Took us ages to find the goalie. Now we're back at square one.

With Kipper gone, the Flames have so far dedicated $34,974,167 toward 17 roster spots and currently have $25,005,000 in cap space. A little above $9M to reach the floor.

Yeah, and with all the rumours with Cammy and Tanguay being shopped, the Flames will have some major work to do just to reach he floor. Can't count on big name UFA signings, so we would most certainly have to take on some big ticket "bad" contracts, which should mean other assets coming our way.
Could be a really interesting couple weeks.

Most impactful flames player of the last 20 years?
I really enjoyed watching him play.

Are there any bad front loaded contracts out there where the cap hit is higher than the actual salary paid out? Perhaps Calgary can use their position to their advantage by trading for these contracts along with some draft picks coming our way from cap strapped teams.

#Flames statement on Kiprusoff (1 of 2): "The statement attributed to him by the Finnish National Team does not come as a surprise ... "

#Flames on Kipper, continued (2 of 2): "However, as we have said consistently, we will continue our dialogue with Miikka."

That means we now have the 3rd most cap space in the leaugue. Ever since the cap came into play we've been near the top every year. So weird seeing all of that space open.

Philly and rangers are at cap or close with only about 60% of they're rosters signed

Flames confirm that CBJ did indeed ask permission to talk to Mikka Kiprusoff about playing in Columbus.

Number 34 better be going to the rafters.
Farewell Kipper, thank you and enjoy a well-deserved retirement. One of the greatest Flames ever, and you will be missed!
