Wonder if we can trade him to NYI to help them reach cap floor, like Boston did with Thomas. Bittersweet in that I'm glad he's going out a Flame, but kinda choked we didn't get an asset for him. Hopefully he can be convinced to postpone filing papers until Feaster looks at possibility of dealing his contract to a cap floor team.
No, because you come off the cap when you retire.
Plus, it would be a complete d-bag thing to do. Not everything has to be about "getting an asset".

Best Goalie ever to wear the flames uniform. He was the real heart and soul of the flames and definitely our MVP since his first game played against Montreal. He will be missed, best of luck Kipper.
Calgarypuck often jokes about saviour players coming along. Kipper was an actual saviour to the team/franchise in Calgary. I'm sure we'll miss him far more than he us. lol

One of my favourite Kiprusoff memories was a 1-0 win against Dallas in 2005-6. Langkow scored the only goal in a game we had absolutely no business winning due to Kipper playing lights out. There was a 5 on 3 where he made a glove save on a Mike Modano wrister from the high slot that I'll never forget.
Kipper no doubt will go down as one of the best Flames ever. He turned this franchise around by himself. It's just a shame we couldn't get the right pieces around him to win a cup, or that blind refs didn't see the puck go in game 6.

A little disappointed he couldn't have issued a statement through the club that he spent 10 years with, and instead did it through Finnish media. Sometimes I wonder if he knows how popular he was here - it's the least he could do show the fans he cares. Then again, he never was a media darling.

Was a really special player. Having him fall into our laps like he did really did wonders for this franchise. Without him there would be no red mile. As much as the face of the franchise was Iginla, Kipper had some broad shoulders and made this team relevant.
Will be missed and should definitely be celebrated. Although Kipper being Kipper will probably rather be fishing.
Thank you for the memories Kipper, especially 2004. Hope we have the pleasure of watching another netminder of your ilk in Calgary in the years to come so we don't have to witness the revolving door we had before your arrival.
Maybe, just maybe, the Flames will one day have an elite #1 goalie and a #1 centre at the same time.
