Anyone have an idea when highway 1 to Canmore/Banff will be operational again?

The problem they are going to have with the track is that a massive chunk of the underlying foundation broke off on the east side of the track where the tunnel is. It is quite difficult to see in that picture, but a large area is essentially rubble.
Anyway, they have been really busting ass on that thing for the past couple days, and I imagine it will be done in impressively little time.

A buddy and I were part of the McMahon Stadium crowd today.
We somehow managed to get onto the first bus of volunteers that left.
Being in and seeing that crowd, as well hearing Nenshi speak just gave me goosebumps. As our bus left, the remaining few thousand people in the lot cheered as we left. It was an amazing feeling.
Our bus headed to Discovery Ridge. We had approx 65 people on our bus. We had quite a few hiccups (we were actually lost in DR and not 100% where to go because the maps that the firemen had weren't the greatest) but overall it was an amazing experience. Walking around that neighborhood and seeing some of the sights in person and talking with homeowners really gave you much more of an empathetic appreciation for what they are actually going through and makes you want to help even more.
I love our city and seeing all those people crowd around to volunteer sure did make me proud to be a Calgarian.

There are going to be a lot of contractors (drywallers, Tilers, carpet layers, landscapers, etc) who are going to make a killing over the next couple of years.

Some guy in High River pulled a knife on the cops there last night - guess he was determined to get in to his place because he thought his animals were still in his house and when they refused him, out came the knife.

Uh, mentioning that the flood might have been due to climate change (something that may actually have played a part), is pretty far from someone telling Albertans to eat sh*t and die.

Because she has a different opinion than you. What the other guy said was disrespectful to the people who had their lives significantly altered and the city/province itself. She said something that wasn't likely scientifically accurate but not disrespectful in the least.

So does Condo insurance have flood coverage usually? I expected not like residential but it could be different. My unit has no damage but just wondering if I should expect a huge special assessment.

overland flooding (ie: the river flowing into your home) no. Sewer and storm drains flooding I believe IS covered, but you have to find out from your Condo board if they have it.
This is what happened to me, I have yet to call my insurance company (as I don't think our building as a whole has flood insurance), so I don't know definitively. I was going to wait a few days to lets things calm a bit.

I wouldn't worry about the person who tweeted ( a green party politician), I'd worry more about the Calgarian whose article she tweeted, which has choice lines like
"Alberta's sprawling cities suddenly rediscovered that mountain water moves downhill"
"Yet most Albertans still can't believe the scale of the multi-billion disaster that has dampened Calgary and environs because affluence tends to dull the senses."

What did you guys actually do? After 8 or so buses they announced that they had enough for the original mission and then started grouping people to find their own way to neighbourhoods to assist with the clean up.

If there's any question, that stampede pic is legit. I was on the grounds today and they have done an amazing amount of clean up in the short time. The grounds are essentially bone dry and there were already setting up tents for exhibits at the stamepde. Only thing that still has water was the Saddledome but they expect that to be cleared within the next 24-48 hours.

Confirmed it with a client. 16 000 ton of sand being delivered to the Stampede Grounds.
Tomorrow.
Said he bid it but what he had on the ground wasn't the right spec.
