Watching the city hall news conference on CTV. The guy is talking about the electrical infrastructure and they cut away for "Breaking News". Turns out the Conservative convention has been cancelled.

Who gives a flying F?

I want to hear about things that matter in the time of a crisis, the convention announcement can wait 15 minutes until the news conference is over. Stupid CTV.

If you know his full name and phone number you could try checking the Safe and Well website https://safeandwell.communityos.org/cms/index.php
It's done through the American Red Cross, but the Canadian Red Cross has a link posted to it on their website as well (http://www.redcross.ca/what-we-do/fi...ding-in-albert). Checking in on there is voluntary of course, but it could be worth a shot just to see.

Delatt shoots 65, another birdie on 18 to get to $14000 for flood relief. He's one back now, should be in the hunt tomorrow! Would be a great week for him to win.

edit: He will be in the final group tomorrow.

edit2: DeLaet's caddie was wearing a Hartford Whalers hat

Well done crews.
Anything else on this - I can't find it anywhere and have friends stuck in banff.
Thanks

RT @CBCMeg: CORRECTION: RCMP now say the highway (1 & 1a) b/w Banff & Canmore may NOT open today. Do not make plans to use it. # #abflood

Shaw has fiber breaks in Sask (pre-flood) and Exshaw (flood related - I think). That might cause some speed issues, depending on what you are doing online.

I know Mrs Rathji has had issues working remotely since Thursday, due to the Sask break.

I got one on my phone, not sure how to post it though. It looks like the arch sections survived, but part of the temporary bridge was washed away.

Spoiler for large image. Also not sure how to make it smaller.

Spoiler!

Just driving down deerfoot and it is just crazy. People driving on the shoulder and the cops are turnin people off of deerfoot to head to peigan.

It is just amazing that people are so impatient and need to drive like dbags while doing it at a time like this.

I don't even have Internet and my TV breaks up constantly.

Actually they don't. Using common sense (sadly a lot don't have) can prevail. There's no reason for everyone to sit at home. People should just do what they normally would do unless it's likely to cause a problem or get in the way. Go to Chinook mall if you live in the area, go out for supper if you live by some restaurants. Go to home depot and do house repairs if that's what you'd do on the weekend. A flood doesn't need to grind the city to a halt. If you see police, ambulance, fire, rescue vehicles in an area obvoiusly stay far away to make life easy for them. But sitting at home doens't help anyone.

<-Insert lame joke about letting the flood win.

Don't agree. I'm going to stay away from stores for a bit so that people with flood damage can go out and get what they need without me being in the way.

Tomorrow I'm going out to help some friends at least attempt cleanup, or try to find out what the damage is.

No reason to become a shut-in. Just stay away from the flood areas.

The advice is to avoid non-essential travel. Don't be selfish. If they open up areas that were evacuated or people need to move around for important reasons, do you want to be the dickhole who is causing extra congestion on the roads because you felt like going for a sightseeing drive? Why is this so hard to understand!

Must just be the way you worded that post ranchlandsselling, but it's almost like you're implying that people SHOULD go out even if they wouldn't have otherwise, just to prove how tough we are and that the floods won't bring us down? I disagree.
