Greetings!
We had, in Prague and in whole western part of the Czech republic. Advice.....I think there is no advice, just to help each other with everything. Hard times. In Czech republic there were about 4-5 big floods in last 16 years, dating back to 1997 when my hometown Hodonin was also affected. But I would never think of floods in Cgy, Aeneas absolutely shocked me yesterday morning /our time/ when he wrote me an email about this whole thing. As I said, you are all strong and Calgary will go up to another level in interpersonal relation. I think you WILL really help each other and care about everybody.

Going on the backbunner is not what he meant. He was saying even if everything goes as planned it would take until 3 yrs from now to get the doors opened.

I found some live coverage here: http://toronto.ctvnews.ca/rivers-rec...ters-1.1337045
If there are better live sources, please post them. This story is not well covered south of the border. Giant floods in India killing 100s seems to have taken all of the 'flood news' space down here.
Hang in there folks! We're thinking of ya!

How in the world will they drain all this water out it is not like the streets which have storm drains and will eventually drain at some later time.
Won't all those seats have to be replaced.
I can't see the all the summer concerts booked being played.

That looks awful. I really have to question if they have the ability to get everything back to normal in time for the regular season. Would the NHL be able to adjust the schedule at this point in time in order to give a greater leeway to the Flames similar to the last major renovations in 1995 where they started the first few months on the road. There obviously isn't another facility in the Calgary area that could house the team, even on a short term basis.

The Rangers started I think 10 games on the road when MSG was being renovated. I would think that is what they would do. Give an extra month to get things in order.

I wasn't trying to make a political statement, I was just trying to give perspective to people who may not have been around during that very dark time. This whole situation sucks the big one, but for the better part, we are talking about 'things' that will be replaced, and for the better part, people are going to be fine very soon. That was not the case back then.

Just curious, how many feet of water do you have in your house right now?
If its less than 10, then as far as I'm concerned you have no F'n idea what people are going through. Just read the posts and move on. Resist the urge to reply with anything that you think on this topic.

Are you really playing the "my crisis is worse than your crisis" card?
