My friend in Invermere posted a picture of a bridge in Skookumchuk (BC) that had a small collapse of a portion of the roadway into the river (the Kootenay?). I know they're getting some flooding out in BC too. Does the Kootenay flow south into the US or are we going to see that come this way eventually?
I'm sorry if that's a stupid question, but I don't know that area well, or which way the river runs.

Yes, not effected other than Westjet losing their caterer.

The southern part of the Alberta-BC border is the Great Divide (where the southwest corner of Alberta is chopped off). All water west of the Great Divide flows west; all water east, flows east. So, any of the rivers in southern BC will empty into the Pacific.

If you are talking about Sunterra, they have their own on their campus. Pretty sure that location does the catering for flights out of YYC.

EDIT: NM. It's Spolumbo's.

Kootenay flows into the Columbia, which flows into the Pacific Ocean. We're good.

Thanks. And double thanks for not mocking my ignorance, lol. I rather appreciate that.

I keep thinking about what would have happened if this was two weeks later.
City full of Stampede tourists, all the stampede grounds and barns would have been full of live stock, etc.

That would have been an even bugger disaster.

Thanks for being the first person to say this (that I've seen). So many questions about exactly how Stampede will go down with all the damage, as opposed to people acknowledging our luck for this not happening during Stampede.

I'm really disappointed when I hear from friends that their bosses made life difficult for them calling in sick. The city is in a state of emergency and keeping people off roads and in their homes is in everyones best interest ffs.

We were talking with one of the nurses at the hospital tonight, about that, while my daughter was getting her IV meds. It is mind bottling to contemplate.

The Columbia actually flows NORTH through Golden, but ends up in the Pacific by Portland, OR.

I am not sure if this has been posted yet but price gouging/fixing is illegal during a state of emergency.

If you paid 45 bucks for a flat of water, save your receipts.
