Shaw TV now giving some coverage...weather map shots with live shots from traffic cams and the Shaw building just south of downtown.

When I was on my way home from work (midnight), I drove Deerfoot from Bow Bottom to 64th ave in the North.

The Lafarge yard at the corner of Glenmore and Deerfoot is underwater. Along that stretch from the Calf Robe bridge to Glenmore, the Bow River is right up to Deerfoot. If the water levels rose another 3 to 5 feet I think there might be danger to Deerfoot itself.

Also, near the weir, the river is right up to the ditch beside Deerfoot.

Since 16th ave NW is closed over the Bow River, will it be possible for me to go over Crowchild Tr to get to the university tomorrow or is that closed as well?

So with all schools closed tomorrow, does that mean school zones are not in affect? I can go 50 km/hour in them?

Good for them for touring around at this hour...solid.

But the three of them look like they're there for some sort of deal or exchange ready to go bad, just like the movies. Looks like they are the odd three guys that don't really want to be there, but have to given what they have to do.

Maybe its the trench coach from Mar, maybe the look on their faces being in the middle of nowehere in the middle of the night or maybe its the way the bright headlights are illuminating them.

I think it's the awkward looking at the camera of people who usually automatically smile when a camera is raised, but know they are in a situation where smiling isn't the right thing to do.

At this hour, it is not listed on the bridge closure list.

It may be open, however with Kensington and Sunnyside being part of the evacuation list and Crowchild North being uphill at Kensington Rd and 5th Ave, I'm not sure if that road would be open.

The pics of the Centre St bridge just blow my mind. I used to live in that area, and walk over that bridge on my way to and from work. I never thought I'd see water that high under those arches.

I was at the Legion downtown for Sled island and left at about 2am. We did not get evacuated. The streets downtown are eerily quiet. Even more so than normal. There are city busses parked along 1st street SW with their flashers and all the drivers huddled in one bus. There was a massive amount of police parked in the stampede grounds parking lots earlier tonight that I could see from my friends apartment and i've seen convoys of up to 20 police cars moving into position earlier tonight as well.

It was tough to get south out of downtown since macleod is closed, 4st is closed, elbow drive is closed. Had to go to 14th st sw and go south there.

All of 17th ave is evacuated. There are ribbons of caution tape tied onto the door knobs of shops to indicate that they have evacuated the area.

Phone was dead long ago so no pics unfortunately.

The Grandstand was the original command center for this major event.

The busses are lined up waiting to be called by CPS to assist in evacuating those in need.

Watched the bow go over the bank around 7th st a few hours ago. It's going to get real bad when they let the damn go (rumour). I have about 12" of water in my basement with more on the way. It looks like the water level in my back yard has dropped 6 or 7" at 2am vs 9pm but the basement is still filling up rather fast. Finally gave up and headed for high ground. It's hard to actually leave when you can see water rushing in and there's nothing you can do about it.

Stay safe everyone.

Those pictures are ridiculous.

BBC news doesn't even have it at all on their US & Canada page, instead the headlines are the Montreal fireworks blast and Rob Ford. Damn eastern bias!
