Yes I just had a patrol car announce to my cul-de-sac that the entire community is being evacuated.

My wife and I decided to stay as we could think of no good reason to leave. We are at least 50 feet above the houses along the river.

Is not leaving an option? Didn't think it was.

I'm in Douglasdale... hear the sirens. Crossing fingers we don't get the lovely knock.

Ugh.
I think this is when the **** hits the fan. Don't even know what kinda debris will be hitting Calgary with that, and what potential damage it will cause.

I just don't understand why you would voluntarily ignore an evacuation order.

LEAVE.

It's not floodwater, its the shutdown of power/gas/utilities.

If you have a mandatory evacuation order, don't be a hero. Go so that you don't place a burden on city support workers who have to deal with you if something happens.

Could be due to shutting down utilities (power/gas). I'm not sure how precise they can shut it down in some area's so they could be clearing people out that would be affected by a shut down in an affected area.

This is a pretty shocking picture. As some of you would know, that Tack & Feed store is the diner they use in the show Heartland. They probably have to shut down filming for a week at least.

Amber Marshall is welcome to stay over at my place.

Another round of intense rain hitting the NW right now. I can hear it echoing through the house again.

Pretty sad that neither CTV or Global are covering this.

CBC even had their building evacuated but they are providing great coverage from Vancouver.
