Oklahoma is Eden compared to Edmonton.

OKC hasn't had trouble signing Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook to extensions; if they can keep the best players in the NBA away from the allure of LA, New York, or taking their talents to South Beach, I can only assume the city has something to offer pro athletes beyond the memorial of the federal building.

They've done some nice investments in downtown OKC. It certainly isn't as ####ty as it used to be in the past. At least that's what I've been told (third year here, leaving in the fall).
@Sevenarms: I've never been to Edmonton, so that might very well be true!

Agreed. Big big stick-tap to PMM. Hopefully the Heat stay-put, because it would suck if you had to be subjected to Canucks prospects.

Draft Pick

Several guys called up to the Flames: Street, Cundari, Bancks, Aliu, Byron, Irving maybe a few others. Not Nemo or Howse. I think Nemo has more hockey smarts than some others.

PMM, are you headed to town for either the July development camp or training camp in the fall?

Not entirely sure. I'll have to see how things play out. We'll be in contact though if I do.

Dustin Sylvester has signed with the Vienna Capitals. By my count that's Walter, Taylor and Sylvester gone so far.

That's two top six forwards gone. It could be a big opportunity for Howse next season. Not really sure who else will fill the other hole.

Me neither. Granlund? Reinhart? Maybe one of this year's draft picks (if they're European) could play in the American league like Zemgus Girgensons and Hampus Lindholm did this past season.
Either way, Feaster needs to address the farm team's depth as much as the big club.

I agree Feaster needs to address forward depth with the Heat. This is where his college players could hurt, although maybe Hanowski plays with the Heat to improve his game.
Granlund would also be an option if he comes over. I don't think Reinhart will be with the Heat for most of the season. I liked his game with the Flames and he looked pretty comfortable so could see him staying up or being an early call up.

Hmmm....let's see.
Signed:
1. Ben Street
2. Markus Granlund (Rookie)
3. Ryan Howse
4. Michael Ferland (Rookie)
5. Turner Elson (Rookie)
6. David Eddy
7. Ben Hanowski (Rookie)
8. Max Reinhart
9. Corbin Knight (Rookie) (Supposedly has a real good shot at making the Flames)
Didn't include -> Blair Jones, Roman Horak or Lance Bouma (RFA)
RFA - Greg Nemisz
RFA - Paul Byron
RFA - Akim Aliu
RFA - Carter Bancks
UFA - Michael Testwuide
AHL Contract Guys -> Ruegsegger, Olson, Liang and Estoclet
Can they make a competitive team out of that?

I dunno but let's try!
Roman Horak/Lance Bouma Max Reinhart Greg Nemisz
Paul Byron Ben Street Ben Hanowski
Ryan Howse Markus Granlund Michael Ferland
Turner Elson Carter Bancks David Eddy
Leftovers: Blair Jones Akim Aliu all the AHL contracts all the pending UFAs
I might also suggest since the Heat are going to be playing closer to a Flames style of game (more open), maybe Kolanos could fit on an AHL deal since that would be better suited for his game. I would also want to sign a veteran AHL forward to replace Walter since I am not sure Eddy should be playing much and not sure if Ferland can handle top 9
Personally I am more concerned with the blueline, we really only have Breen (if he is not in the NHL), Ramage, Wotherspoon & Martin under contract (or RFA rights)

Lamb is RFA.
Culkin is old enough to turn pro.
Cundari could return to Abby, unlikely though.
They will also likely invite some UFA's to their prospect camps (former junior and college guys who are unsigned.) Potentially we could sign a defender that way as well.
