You might be right Supermatt, they just spanked the leafs so if they keep up this play they might see Nino as expendable.

Doesn't mean trading a promising 20 year old powerforward for Giordano is the right move though, especially since the Islanders probably aren't quite close enough yet to try to take that step.

You trade second tier youngsters with lower upside, like Casey Cizikas, Krill Kabanov, Josh Bailey or David Ullstrom to add veteran leadership.
You don't trade your #1 prospect when you are building with youth, to add a 29 or 30 yr old.

Boyes is in their top 6, on a cheap 1 yr contract. He signed with them hoping to play next to Tavares and rebuild his rep as a score, to show gms he's not washed up. He's not gonna signing another cheap deal with LI.
Matt Moulson is gonna be a ufa soon.
Isles would rather give Nino $900,000 then give either of them a couple of million.

You may be right about Boyes, but I don't see Moulson going anywhere because of his relation to Tavares.

Is Moulson who's about 30 yrs old, getting a share of Tavares's $33m contract?
Cause at some point, Moulson will look at the below market value deals that he's previously signed with the isles and ask when they will reward him for his loyalty.

Well I have a couple of scenarios for this.
1) Since the Isles finally have a destination, Charlie will open the checkbook. If he does that Moulson will be rewarded.
2) Moulson may walk but never have the kind of production that he had being on JT's line.

I said it would be foolish for the Islanders to deal Nino for Giordano. For one the Islanders are not quite close enough to add those expensive veterans, and second Gio isn't good enough to put them over the top.
But two years from now when the Islanders are ready to take the next step they would likely be smart to trade their top prospect then for a guy who is 28/29 and will put them over the top.
In order to win these teams with stacked youth have to add some veterans by trading top prospects and future 1st rounders.
The Kings traded Schenn/Simmonds to bring in Mike Richards last season, the Bruins lost a two 1sts/Colbourne to bring in Horton/Kaberle or the Hawks bringing Hossa for their win (Hossa wasn't a trade but the cap implications cost them to lose some young guys).
As some point the Islanders will have to make those types of moves if they want to win a cup.

Got this for someone who follows the Isles closely:
Nino Niederreiter was asked by the Islanders to attend prospect camp. Nino has told the organization, NO.
I hope Feaster at least picks up the phone.

The Isles beat reporter tweeted that yesterday.
Nino Niederreiter has declined to attend prospect camp this year. Players are required to attend 3x, choose to attend after that.

So is this his fourth or third camp? My guess is third but if it is his fourth invite then tis no big deal. If it is his third then thats a bigger deal.

Actually, from what I hear, it is his 4th camp. Rarely does a prospect ever attend 4 on the islanders. Don't think there is anything 'entitled' about his behavior at all, especially after seemingly getting run-around in that organization because of Wang trying to save a few bucks.

No big deal then. Still wouldn't mind kicking the tires on a Nino deal though.
As for being a self entitled feminine hygene product I have to dissagree with that. He should have every right to be upset with the Isles.

To say sorry you have to deal with a pain in the ass that hasn't done much at all in his career to be such a pain?
Hopefully if he picks up the phone it is not to try and acquire this overrated whiner.
Can't believe the Islanders were fooled into taking him 5th after an okay but wildly overrated WJHC.

He has every right to be upset with the isles... I'm even upset with the isles and they have nothing to do with my life.

Unfortunately this kid is always going to be hyped because the Islanders went way off the board on draft day.

That alone means the Flames should stay away.
Ya, he is a top prospect but he has been underwhelming in his 2 years as a pro, has established himself to be a malcontent and his agent seems like a real problem.
He seems to be demanding a lot for a player who hasn't played good hockey since junior.
Not at all what the Flames should be going for.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd kinda be more happy with a good hockey player than a guy with a good/perfect attitude.
Do we not possess a former teammate and fellow countryman who can vouch for us?

Under the CBA there are a certain set of criteria that defines if a player is allowed to attend a prospect/conditioning camp. It also specifies that a team cannot make it a requirement for a player to attend more than 3 of these camps
So according to the CBA any prospect is well within their rights to say no to a 4th camp
