who knows. Boston also has to throw crazy money at Rask now. Right now, they have just 5.8m in cap space for next season without a goalie ... I doubt there'll be enough room for Horton. Plus there's a good chance that Horton will win his 2nd SC this year, who knows what his priorities will be this summer?

Considering contracts, Cammalleri would be a better deadline deal. Stempniak is a great all around deal. $2.5M for that level of point production is cheap for the entire season and easy for any team to slot into their second line RW.

For an NHL'er Horton's made decent coin but never the big UFA money. He was set to make the most he's ever made (by a million) at 5.5 last season but that was cut in half by the lockout.

He has a cup, might have another soon... while I wouldn't rule out taking a discount to stay with the Bruins don't be shocked if he chases the dollar either.

well considering hes an Ontario guy Id think he would go to Toronto or Ottawa first. Nothing drawing him out west unless he married a Calgary girl.
/edit
nope on the wife, Id bet Toronto is where he ends up IF he moves at all.
Horton married Canadian model Tammy Plante, the great-niece of NHL goaltending great Jacques Plante, on July 7, 2007.[88] They have two sons, Dylan and Zachary.

Could be plausible given Nashville has no real talented forwards. I think they would rather take Stempy though as Tanguay is becoming quite old. Not sure just Stempy could get it done seeing as the strength at the 4th draft position.

Wideman didnt come to Calgary under the auspice that the team was entering a rebuild. He came to help Iggy win a cup.

If his motivation is to earn a big paycheque after winning his second cup then there could be millions of reasons to come to Calgary (assuming we need to land a big contract UFA to stay above the cap floor).

He might not care about being the guy in a rebuild as he already has his cups.

^^^ assuming everyone is correct...why would we want to offer a$6M + contract to a guy who is injury prone?

If he gets hurt would we drop below the cap floor and be penalized?

If we move all these bodies out, we have all kinds of room to take on short term contracts from teams with cap problems along with more high picks for this year and next. We emerge a force a few years down the road.

Wow, and with the rumours of Cammalleri as well it seems like Feaster is using a 'Scorched Earth' strategy here.

Seriously though, Sarich? I know some people love the prospect of getting something for him for the sake of asset management, but without him this team is insanely soft.

Definitely. But if Nashville want a real talented forward its going to be Glencross and it will cost them 4th overall pick.

No kidding..........huge, huge pass on Horton. Or anyone else seeking 5/6/7 million on a multi-year deal.

This is the perfect time to load up on young players and let them get a ton of ice time over the next couple years. Of course you want a few vets sprinkled in, and you have to spend enough to at least get to the floor, but this is the time to tear it all all down and start from scratch. Bringing in guys like Horton (or Letang) on a large contract is the last thing the Flames should do. Let another team pay them the huge cash for the next few years and then when the Flames are actually a contender again they can go out and bring in bigger contracts.

Have to find other players to help us to be big and tough. I've always liked Sarich, but the guy sat out a lot last season, and he isn't making us any tougher from the press box.
