Default Flames listening to offers for Tanguay, Stempniak and Sarich

http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/cgy130619.html
Quote:
Trading Cammalleri is not a guarantee, though. If the Flames acquire a top-line center, it would presumably be to play with the Toronto native. The Flames are also reportedly willing to entertain inquiries and offers for such players as Alex Tanguay, Cory Sarich and Lee Stempniak.

Several teams, including the Ottawa Senators, Buffalo Sabres, Dallas Stars and Nashville Predators, are looking to get their hands on a top-six forward.

I do like Stempniak.. depends on the price

However, good riddance to the other two (Sarich is getting up there now with age)

... how the hell are we going to reach the cap floor? ^^

Don't want to see Stemp go, I really liked him last season. But Tanguay? Meh.

I can see Stempniak to Dallas for sure. Maybe a third round pick or re-coup the fourth rounder we gave up for Knight.

Tanguay would be a good fit with the Preds. Not sure what the range of the return would sit though.

Good good.

Stempniak and Sarich are great trade deadline guys too so won't be upset in the least if they're kept until then either.

Tangs and Sarich i could see. Not sure why they would think about trading Stempniak in the summer? Flames are very weak at RW. I think they could get more for Stempniak at the deadline. Also if Cammi wants out i would rather trade him than Stempniak.

I would love it if we could get something for Sarich.

Stempniak is an interesting case. Good player on a decent salary. I figured he'd for sure be rental fodder at next years deadline, 2nd round pick type of trade for a depth winger on an expiring contract. If they can trade him now though and get a decent return, fine by me.

Sarich is a great mentor and definitely the kind of attitude I would want to have on the team for the rebuild. He is also one of the few physical guys on the team that could be relied upon to stand up for his teammates.

However, if he is looking to move then treat him like any of the other vets looking to move on and get a deal made.

Stempniak had 32 points this season, that's a pace for 56 points in a full season while being on a 2.5m contract. There's no way I'd sell him for a 4th or even a 3rd ... maybe for a 2nd in the 31-50 range.

With Stempniak's production last season, and his cheap contract, if we only get a 3rd/4th rounder for him, the GM should be fired.

If he can keep up the production for this coming year, he could be one of the most sought after trade deadline acquisitions, if not the most.

I personally wouldn't trade him at this point for anything less than a 1st rounder, PLUS more. At the trade deadline, you trade him for whatever you can get for him, which should be at least that.

We need to keep Sarich unless we can get another hitting dman for him.

Unless Feaster somehow knows inside info from the NHL wanting to ban hitting, we are going to get smoked and run over next year.

Hasn't Feaster indicated in interviews that they actually believe they will be closer to the cap ceiling than they will be to the cap floor?

Hey must be planning on taking on some big ole contracts from other teams. That and I bet they throw a massive offer to Horton on July 5th.

Tanguay seems like a good fit with the Preds, moderate sized cap hit with 50-60 point potential. Contract length lessens the return but they do have a lot of good young players on the cusp of making the NHL.

Horton will not come to Calgary to be part of a rebuild. The Flames will have to take on other teams reclamation projects with added sugar to get to the floor.

I bet he would if we paid him enough.

Stempniak should get us much more than that traded in a separate transaction.

Stempniak to Montreal for a 2nd.

Montreal needs a cheap, short-term, replacement for Cole/Ryder.
