If you are a contending team, do you pay the guy we saw last year $6 million? Do you trade anything at all of value?
He goes out, tears it up, and the team is out of it, then sure, ask to be traded. It makes him more desireable, allows teams to see that he still has it, also allows him to see who is a contender. In this league, teams can go from top of the heap to non contender quickly. See Vancouver, or Carolina or Tampa.
Thanks again for calling me stupid.

His numbers with the Flames are much better than his pace with the Habs and that was playing mostly 2nd line and rarely with Iginla last season. IMO he may get burried on a good team because he's not very good when he's not scoring. He would probably lead the Flames in scoring next season and get a lot of 1st line and powerplay time. I think playing with the Flames is a good oppotunity to pad his stats.

Basically you take on DiPietro's contract for the first round pick and swap Cammy for Reinhart. Sure it might be a steep price but I bet you the Islanders would pull the trigger on it.
|
Of course they would. If the Flyer's owners are balking at the idea of the Bryz buyout then any team would choke at the idea of the DiPietro buyout. The cash-strapped Islanders would leap at any chance to offload that contract, especially one as cheap as that asset wise.

I think people are overvaluing the return Cammy would fetch at the deadline...unless of course he has an outstanding season on the 1st line with the Flames next season, but I dunno I just don't see him making a big splash next deadline and perhaps it's more useful for Feaster to try and use him as leverage in the draft...
But I agree we do need some veteran players on the 1st line that can score, but if he's asked to be traded I would prefer not having someone who requested a trade be a leader in the dressing room next season.

Cammy should want to stay.
1st line minutes + PP minutes = lots of points
Lots of points makes him an attractive acquisition for a playoff team (chance at a Cup with a deadline trade) and sets him up for a better contract.

Certainly makes you raise an eyebrow and wouldn't be surprising, but it is Roger Millions so I would take it with a grain of salt until someone more credible and reliable says something about it.

Roger is dialed right in with the Flames. I would take him as possibly one of the most credible sources when it comes to this team.

a current 5/6 defenseman (albeit young), a 3rd and a 4th round pick is too much for a top 6 winger?

If Baertschi is getting 1st line minutes chances are he won't be on the same line as Cammalleri.

I think most people are undervaluing Cammi (and just about every other Flames asset). It seems like we are determined to lose every trade that gets rumoured around here and that every player that joins the Flames suddenly has no value because they are under the CP microscope.

Having said that, we do need a veteran presence in the top 6. If I was Feaster I'd tell him to hold tight until the deadline. Tell him he will have every chance to perform on the top line all season, and then he will trade him for a good return when the time is right.
|
I don't know... Being a top dog on a crappy team could be very good for your stats. See all those overvalued ex-Leafs (Stajan, Antropov, etc)...

Kinda sad it is Cammi and not Tanguay. Mike has a good attitude but Tanguay is a whiny crybaby who quits way to early on his team. Please get rid of Tanguay, Feaster.

If you can get any 2013 1st rounder for Cammy you do it, but I don't see anyone doing that straight up. Most likely you can get a 2014 1st rounder at the deadline but since the draft won't be as deep it's not as valuable.

I think its both. Won't be surprised if next summer Glencross, Wideman, or Gio want out.

Ideally he should be shipped out at the deadline, but if he wants out now then whatever. I'll be glad when what remains of the Iginla and Friends Country Club are gone.

I would try and sell Cammy, along with the number 22, to Columbus for the number 14 in the 2013 draft and their 1st in the 2014 draft.

Feaster would be a hero if he could do that. The Jackets might do that trade if you remove the 2014 1st.
