Knight and Theo are nothing alike outside of that they both will have played for the Flames.

If he was a 6 foot version of Fleury that could win faceoffs he would have been drafted #1 overall.

Yeah, I think that's a little premature. That would probably put him in the top 5 of rookie scoring and likely in the Calder conversation.

While the blanket NCAA to NHL equivalency might suggest numbers like that, many elite players who put up excellent numbers as 18 or 19 year olds and are included in that stat which skews things. Among players who go from NCAA to the NHL at Knight's age, the equivalency is more like 0.22-0.25 which would put him in the 20-25 point range which I think is much more realistic.

Fourth round picks still have value, regardless of the odds.

Good point, the age-adjusted equivalency is better.

Edit: says here that NCAA doesn't need an age factor because most are out of their biggest developmental years by the time they reach the NHL. You disagree?

Hopefully we can trade a roster player closer to the draft to recoup that 4th rounder, or perhaps more.

They still have value on there own. It would be pointless to just give away a 4th rounder just because there are low odds you'll get an impact player with that choice. However, when you look at the player coming back, a young, big center who can win faceoffs and will hopefully be able to step in right away, that is much more valuable than the off chance of selecting a Brodie or a Gaudreau. Phenomenal move by Feaster.

I would like to point out something just as important as well, he's a right handed shot. Maybe it's only a big thing to me but that's huge.

Oh, I agree. I'm behind this trade 100%. The user I'm quoted originally stated that the Flames fourth rounder would never make an impact in the NHL. My point was just that that statement was dumb because one currently is and another hopefully will be soon. Fourth rounders have value and this trade was well worth giving up that value.

Great trade that I'd do 10/10 times.

Im much more confident in Knight's ability to be an nhl regular than Hanowski, nemisz or byron.

Can you imagine the carnage in the aftermath of a six foot Theo?

Listened to his interview on the radio on my way home this afternoon. Knight must have said "you know" to either begin or end every second sentence.

From my point of view, moving forward, we likely have the following spots filled with young players

not filled-not filled-not filled
Baertschi-Jankowski-Gaudreau
Backlund-Knight-not filled
Horak-Reinhart-Bouma

Brodie-not filled
not filled-not filled
Wotherspoon-Sieloff
Breen

Gillies/Ortio/Brossoit (all maybes)

I know some might question Sven being on the 2nd line, but I figure that we need star players on our first line to be a contender, and while Sven is really good, I don't know if he is that good.

Are you suggesting that hockey players have a repetative and limited vocabulary?

I use to refer to that as helmet talk. As soon as a helmet goes on everything gets repeated in rapid succession. It's like the first time is to get attention and the second time is to actually convey thought.

It's almost like this was his first live on air interview as a professional hockey player with the media in the hockey mad city he was just traded to
