Theo's old go to fill in word. Knight sounds like he is happy to be coming back to Calgary and get the contract signed.

Either way, I'm excited to see him play. Just being a Hobey Baker finalist doesn't mean much (especially looking at past Hobey Baker finalists and winners). Gotta love the points he's put up in his college career. I love how he led the nation in primary assists. That's huge.

If the Flames acquire enough center depth to push him to the third line, it isn't a bad thing. Just means we finally have depth at that position. Long term projection (a couple seasons) I would expect to flames to pick a center this year and given the opportunity (if we draft top 3) they will take an elite center next year. The best problem to have is having depth up the middle.

So you're saying we just got a 6 foot+ version of theo fleury who wins face-offs?

Why? Where would he fall in this year's draft rankings? Do you honestly think there are 4 rounds worth of 17 year olds that are better than he is?

If he has the endless a-hole attitude and an endless supply of energy then yeah, maybe.

If Knight was likely to be a top-two centre in the NHL, he would have been drafted a lot higher than the 5th round.
Most forwards who make it to the NHL - even most of the ones drafted high and with high expectations - never stick above the 3rd line. Knight is a great pick-up even if he settles in as a third liner. No need to pin unrealistic hopes and expectations on him.

what the deuce are you talking about? Theo used to say and still does "i know and ya know" quite a bit just like Knight in the interview don't try making anything more out of it.
Knight and Theo are nothing alike outside of that they both will have played for the Flames.

I think we're arguing the same thing here, but there are numerous accounts of high-end centres getting drafted in the mid-rounds. So I don't think there's much of a correlation between draft position and ceiling.
It's possible that when he was drafted he had some sort of deficiency that kept him out of the top rounds. For example, he was drafted out of the AJHL, which is tough to gauge talent. He might've been a few inches smaller back then. Maybe he wasn't good at skating, etc.

It makes me wonder what would've happened with Trent Erixon, had he been coming up now instead of a couple years ago. It's clear that he and his parents wanted New York, but it would've been harder to sell the whole "we feel Trent won't have an opportunity to play here" angle within the Flames' current environment.

Awesome? That would not be awesome at all. Danny Kristo for two first rounders? What the hell?
