I didn't think of it in that much detail. I just think, though, that you get McKinnon and Monahan this year, and build the team around those two. Who cares what place you finish in next year, you already have your top 2 centres going forward.
Oh and prospect depth is so over-rated. You can get the Hanowskis, Agostinos, Berras, Cundaris, even Granlunds, Wotherspoons, Sieloffs etc. by trading away your aging vets. You don't need to hold on to all your picks to draft those types of players.

Yes I do. A 50-60 point player for a 2nd round pick seems like a pretty reasonable price to pay.

Danny Heatly is a 50-60 point player. Does that mean that the Wild can get a 2nd round pick for him?

This team needs less Tanguay moving forward. 3 more years-yuck.

Probably not but that has more to do with a 7.5MM cap hit versus for the same amount of points a 3.5MM cap hit.

With a $4,000,000.00 price reduction they probably could.

Are you intentionally this difficult? (thats me being nice)
Heatley has a cap hit that is $4,000,000 higher, on a team that is tight against the cap and is coming off a serious injury.
A Healthy Heatly @ $3,500,00 though? Yes, he could get a 2nd round pick.

If he signs, that will be a great move for a 4th

Don't forget to smear his character for not signing with the team that drafted him.

For a 4th rounder?
Not bad, assuming they can get him signed. I like it.

Its a bit of an overpayment on the Flames part if he was going to come here anyway on Aug15th (or if he still doesn't sign). We better see an ELC announcement soon.

Sounds like they pretty much have a deal signed and are just waiting for July 5th.
Quote:
During the past ten days we spoke with Corban and his agent, and were pleased to learn Corban wanted to start his pro career in Calgary. We were able to consummate the trade today with Florida, and are confident we will get Corban signed when permitted in July. We are thrilled to add him to our organization, and look forward to his debut in a Flames’ sweater this Fall."
