This year is prob the worst year we will have in a long time and we still finished 6th last! without iggy without Bouw and with Kipper injured.
The Canes lost their goalie and their backups were garbage, Florida had a ton of injuries and the Avs shamelessly tanked.

It's likely us, Tampa, Nashville, Buffalo and Dallas slugging it our for the bottom three next year.

I still wouldnt trade 30th overall for Clutterbuck. I bet most wouldnt either, but I guess I could be wrong.

Again, 19 f'in 93. It's the 20th anniversary of that pick. I'm pretty confident we wouldn't be getting that with Nathan Mackinnon. Jesus.

You have no idea what their plans are. They might acquire more picks, prospects or get better in other ways after making this deal. I am not sure how you can fault Feaster for trying to get a franchise player over Monahan (if that) and two late picks in the first round.

A #1 forward who has just shown us he is no longer a #1 forward on any team in the league. A #1 dman who played A TONNE better than before but is still a butlersoft, non-scoring dman. and i still hold out hope Kipper is back! hehe

There is NO WAY we get a top 3 pick next year. Probably not ever.

It's not like he is the only one who had such a horrible +/-. Tanguay, Hudler, Cervenka and Glencross were all around -10. It was just a horrible season for everyone and you are right, I hope he proves you wrong and proves me right (and at the end, we are both happy).

Ummm.. so you are telling me our #1 forward and #1 dman were the BEST on our team but are really not that good. Well now we don't even have those guys, so it puts us in an even bigger hole no?

The Flames have to many holes to turn three top prospects into one. We don't know that Mackinnon is a franchise player. In 2003 the best players were selected outside the top 5.

You're definitely delustional if you think our pick is over 15 next year. The only reason we won those handful of games at the end of the year was the adrenaline boost from the young players we called up, theres no way thats going to last for a 82 game season

If we gave that icetime and pp time to some other players that would have helped immensely. Remember when Sven was gettting zero pp time?

So seriously you really think we are bottom 2 next year? haha thats crazy.

There is also no guarantee that this draft is going to spew out the same results as the 2003 draft.

Agreed, but it happens. If you told me Mackinnon would be the equivalent of Brad Richards in his prime then the deal is intriguing, but this is yet to be determined. There are just too many variables involved to say he will even be the best forward to come from this draft. Barkov, Drouin, Lindholm and maybe even a Monahan, Dome or yet to be named player may turn out to be the most accomplished forward from this draft.

From all appearances this is a year where there are 4 or 5 guys who may ultimately vie for the best forward from this draft class. Mackinnon's history suggests he will be the best, but his body of work does not say he is a generational talent or that he will even be dominant at the NHL level. The team that gets him leaves the draft able to say it appears they have a number one center, nothing more, nothing less.

I think anybody who thinks Calgary will not be a bottom 3 team next year is in full denial.

Feaster would have to pull, not one, but 2 rabbits out of a magic hat, for us not to be in the bottom 5.

Can't be mad at Feaster for doing this. Mackinnon would be a huge piece to start the rebuild with. Not mad at the Avs for matching either. But some of the stuff people in here are posting makes me laugh.

Feaster losing his job for this? Garth Snow offered every pick the Islanders had in last years draft for a chance to draft Yakupov. GM's are aware of the risks but they are willing to take them. I'm sure Feaster will do what he can to get Bakrov now.

I SERIOUSLY think they will have a top 3 pick next season. I might be the only one, but its just what happens when teams go into a re-build. We are definitely not improving next season from the 6th overall pick.

If we never got a top 5 pick when we had the Young Guns and Tabarraci as our starting goalie we WILL NEVER have a top5 pick unless we trade up for one.

Our #1 pairing for a couple of those years was Todd Simpson and Joel Bouchard!!!!!!

I clearly addressed the Canes Avs and Panthers in my post. The Rangers?? Not sure why they'd be in the bottom 5, especially when they're getting a better coach. The Oilers will likely finish where they did this year, maybe a spot or two better.

How is that at worst? This is the best case scenario.

The worst case scenario is 3 busts. And it happens, and happens often.

You seriously think the Panthers are going to be good next year? The Avs are going to be just as bad next year with Patrick Wahhhhh as their coach. What a dumb sentimental move by Avs mgmt.

The Canes are the only team that might rebound but that defence looks pretty terrible even with Ward back in net.
