I would love to make that trade for Mckinnon. I wonder if Florida would do something similar?

Interesting for sure what Elliot Friedman said about the Flames. If the roles were reversed and it was the Avs asking Calgary for the number 1 pick in change for three 1st round picks would you do it?. I'm not sure If I would. Those top 2 picks are golden.

Id rather the Flames get 1 very solid asset with #6 and 2 solid assets with the other first round picks. Without Kipper and Iginla they should be competing for #1 overall next year and the year after.

Not sure why anyone would be surprised, Feaster said they were working on different situations to move up in the draft.

So lets try this and offer all 3 first rounders to the Panthers. Not a fan of this still.

I'd do that trade for Nathan MacKinnon every day of the week.

I'm on the fence about this. Top pick will likely be a great player. But if 2/3 of our picks end up being really damn good players, wouldn't that be better? Considering the many holes that we need to fill and the fact that we built around a lone superstar to very little success in the past.

Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, DUMB. 3 good players (one which could turn out great) is better than 1 great player. That's all I have to say.

Its the same result as we'd still get Mackinnon.

So massive that the avs turned it down? Maybe fire Roy then.

I don't understand why anyone would think that is an overpayment. Nathan MacKinnon (who I assume who Calgary would have taken had this gone through), will almost certainly be a franchise player. Whoever slots in at #6 (Monahan/Lindholm) will be a good player but probably not a franchise player. There is a very large gap between a MacKinnon and a Monahan/Lindholm.

They tried. For the MacKinnon lovers they can at least sleep knowing they tried.
Overall I would not have been a fan of that trade. Too many high potential players available at all picks. We need the depth. A prospect rich environment is what the Flames need.
If the top 4 are locked I see no point in trying to move up. As for the Oilers having more than what the Flames have to offer, do they Have three first round picks? nope. Can the flames trade the 28th down to acquire more picks? yep. The Oilers have no advantage over the Flames in trading up.

The Avs built their entire season around Seth Jones so something can be an overpayment in a value sense and they still might not accept it because their value attached to a specific player is skewed.

What funny game that the return for Bowmeester and Iginla is not the same value as tanking.
I'm generally not a fan of tanking in general, but once we gutted the team, they should have done everything they could to not win another game.

Well worth a try from Feaster, but easy to see why Colorado said no.
