As per Elliotte Friedman:

Flames offered the #6, #22, #28 picks to Colorado for the top pick overall. Avalanche said no.

Also mentioned that the top 4 teams won't be moving their pick. The Hurricanes 5th overall pick is available and could likely move.

CBC host just said Feaster offered all our first round picks this year to COL - they declined.

Makes sense though, I think the Av's are committed to drafting Jones.

Safe to say they probably want Baertschi thrown in.

I would not trade Sven by himself for that pick.

You wouldn't do Sven for Mackinnon straight up?

Nope. I look at Sven's work ethic and his skill and I think you would filling one hole but creating another. I would rather let the Av's draft Jones and make that deal with Florida and get MacKinnon.

I'm not saying you're opening up a hole if Sven leaves, but you have to take the best player and that will be by far Mackinnon.

Edmonton has talked to Carolina few times about that pick. I wonder what the + would be in 7 + for 5. Calgary could move up to that slot as well if their guy is available at 5.

He is my pick for our 3rd round selection. I like his speed, jam, complete game & desire to get into the hard areas. I liked his offence game in the U18s, but he does seem to need some work on his shooting as he missed quite a few shots, even at close range.

There seem to be a few of these power RWs in the 2nd & 3rd rounds. I hope we load up on top-end C & D in the 1st round & then pounce on a few wingers in the 3rd & 4th rounds.

That's crazy. MacKinnon will out produce Sven next season.

Not likely. John Tavares had 54 points his rookie year and was a better prospect than MacKinnon. Plus he will be playing for Florida. Baertschi will have an edge in development and experience. Barring injuries Sven will have more points/better PPG

Are you comparing MacKinnon to Sven or Tavares because Sven wasn't anywhere near close to 54 point pace last season. Sven was pretty bad last year. Doesn't mean I think he's a bust or anything as this happens but he was a big disappointment IMO.

I'm excited about Sven's future, but if I had to wager total points for next season, I'm going with Mackinnon for sure...he could very well end up playing on the top line in FLA before the season is through.

I don't know what Mackinnon's ceiling is, but I do think he will be an immediate contributor to FLA or wherever he plays.

I hope you're right but I would wager money that MacKinnon has more points than Sven next season.

Would you guys consider trading #6 to Columbus for #14 and #19?

No chance, Flames focus should be moving higher, absolutely should not look at moving down.
