Backlund's so good he must already be on the team.

Not even an invite for Backlund?
I am not saying he deserves to be on the team, but surely he should have gotten an invite.

Also, surprised to see that Lindholm didn't get an invite.

Very formidable group there. Some really awesome young D-men and their goaltending looks really solid too.

I was thinking their F group was looking airflow thin as I went down the list... Then I saw the Sedins and Zetterberg at the bottom, that really changes things quickly |

I dunno. We all love Backlund here as Flames fans, but if you take a step back and look at that list, I wouldn't rank Backlund ahead of any of those guys invited. I think I'd be more surprised if he was actually on the list of invitees.

I think you mean their Malvaktering. What a great word.

I guess by goaltending it is solid as they only need one .... Lundqvist.... the others are all NHL backups.

He didn't dominate his team that squeaked into 8th spot in the play-offs and was swept out in the first round.

There are 2 guys from the SEL league invited to camp the rest are NHL /AHL.

If you want to represent Sweden at the Olympics you had better be playing in the best league in the world.

Swap Kruger with Johansson and I would agree.

 Enstrom, Adam Larrson, Strahlman

Kruger has proven to be a very effective penalty killer along with Frolik. I think that alone gets him on the team over Johansson.

Surprised Enstrom didn't get an invite, but maybe he's too similar to other defenders on the team.

Don't they have an unwritten policy that they always have some SEL players on the team?

Really?

Niklas Persson
Jimmie Ericsson
Joel Lundqvist
Oscar Lindberg
Gustav Nyquist

I would take Backlund over all of these players, especially when you take into consideration the familiarity and success he had overseas with Patrick Berglund.

I'm pretty satisfied with the selection. I don't have the slightest idea what Lindberg and Nyquist are doing there, but I assume Mårts wants to give them a shot to prove themselves before the final selection.
Backlund could potentially have taken a slot from any of the domestic players, but it's not like I'm going to throw a big fit over it.

I believe that 2-4 domestic players normally end up grabbing a spot in the end.

This team is going to fail it is just so political. There are not enough guys from Modo on this team, terrible choices all around.
