The PlayStation Plus service will remain the same price at the launch of the PlayStation 4. SCE America VP of Publisher & Developer Relations Adam Boyes confirmed to Joystiq during a roundtable that the price will remain $50 annually in North America. Boyes also said "all video services [on the PS4] will be outside of Plus," meaning that services like Netflix and Hulu won't require Plus.

No difference really, but with FS/BB still taking pre-orders I might get a tad paranoid that they're overselling the consoles, and won't have enough to fill all orders on day one. On the other hand they've stopped taking pre-orders in store, so it seems they were doing a more stringent job in tracking in-store orders.

I was probably going to go with the PS4 anyways unless the Xbone was miles a head, but this news just confirms it.
I thought the original Xbox was better than the PS2 but I really soured on the 360 when I went through 3 in the first year and 1/2. After it failed for he 3rd time I got a PS3 which I still have today . Once I got used to the controllers I find I prefer it and think overall it is the superior machine.

I know I know, it's getting out of hand. Still though. Until Don Mattrick is fired he deserves all the sh** that comes his way. The prototypical dumb ass executive who has no idea what the consumer actually wants.

Something seems fishy with that picture of the PS4 compared to the other consoles. I mean, how can they make it that powerful but keep it that small? The high end graphics cards they are coming equipped with would be massive power hogs, wouldn't they? And how are they going to handle the heat? Keeping the power supply internal would make heat dissipation even that more difficult.
Did they announce that they are using liquid cooling and I missed it?

It's an integrated AMD APU (CPU & GPU on one chip) built on a 28 nanometer process. The power is not high end in terms of where that class of APU family sits in the PC world. The family actually is from their low power line-up, potentially for tablets and mobility devices (Kabini and Temash). The PS4's GPU only has 1.84 teraflops of power or about what a lower mid-tier PC graphics card would have had 2 years ago.
But that said, the same family (Jaguar) is also what powers the XBox so I wonder why the XBox is so large and what it's power consumption and heat are.

Plus if I have a PS4 and a PS3, I'll have no choice but to buy a new flatscreen for the upstair room, in order to have both set up at once....almost makes too much sense.

Yeah, I ordered GTA V, Madden (which I swore myself off of, DAMN IT), BF4, and Watch Dogs. I'm going to go trade in some of my PS3 games this weekend and then wait for Black Friday or Boxing Day sales to pick up more PS4 games.

It's no surprise that the PS4 is that size. Just think how a high end gaming laptop probably has more power than either of these consoles and a laptop is able to cram all those components down to the size of what a laptop is. Add an internal PS and you've got the size of the PS4.

Seems like I was late to the party. Both Futureshop and Bestbuy have stopped taking Pre-Orders online for the PS4.
Though EBGames.ca and amazon.ca still seem to be taking orders. I'm going with Amazon.ca myself.
Pre-ordering games from FS still. 2 for the price of 3 is too good to pass up. GTA V and The Last of Us with a free Battlefield 4, yes please.

I ended up ordering Watch Dogs, Battlefield 4, InFamous: Second Son all for PS4. I think the only games I will by for my 360 until PS4 comes out will be NHL 14 and maybe Arkham Origins.
Never played Battlefield before so I don't really know what I am getting myself into, but it was pretty hard to pass up after that multiplayer demo at E3.

For those still looking, PS4 looks to be indeed sold out at Futureshop and Bestbuy. Still available at Ebgames:
http://www.ebgames.ca/consoles/playstation-4/316872
Amazon.com had a "Launch Edition" and Bestbuy had a Rewardspoints edition that were supposed to be from day one batches. Not sure if other retailers had the same.
Today is also the last day for the HUGE E3 sale at Futureshop and Bestbuy. Basically saving $20 on each of the $60 games - people should be ordering stuff for the next year today!
EDIT: Amazon.ca is out - EBgames is your only hope Obi-wan!

Definitely get on that futureshop deal. I'm a little saddened NHL wasn't included, but I still managed to get The Last of Us, GTA V, and Batman Arkham Origins for $40 each. Even if they were used that'd be a decent deal.

I loaded up on Wii U games... Mario World, Mario Kart, DKC, and Sonic for $40 each. I'm not sure what PS4 games I want at launch and don't mind dropping $60 on Infamous next year, so it seemed like the best course of action.

I preordered Killzone (PS4), GTA V (Xbox 360), and Watch Dogs (PS4). Killzone and Watch Dogs are both launch titles.
I was a bit torn as I was thinking Madden, Destiny, The Crew (Holy crap massive map, all of the US!!), Infamous, Thief, Battlefront etc. but I would imagine most are still not going to be out by E3 next year (Destiny, Thief, Battlefront, etc.) and I can just use this same sale to pre order them at that time.

Thank jebus I've been reading this thread. I had wanted to pre-order through amazon.ca initially but missed the boat on it so signed up to be notified when it became available again, but so far nada.
But just checked amazon.ca based on a couple posts in here saying it was still available and got a preorder in. Woo hoo.
