Baha, really.. that too? Oh yeah, I forgot.. you're that "moon" guy.

I'm sure Bylsma would have something to say about that today.

Curious who went 7 or 8? Monahan and Pullock sounds good to me.

I'm thinking the pick should be Monahan. Seems like he's gaining steam these last couple weeks. I remember a couple years ago when he was projected to go top three in 2013.

Well, it's not "Dipietro stupid" that's for sure (or "Richards stupid"), but it's still stupid.

I just hope that Lindholm is next on their list after Barkov and Monahan, because if we don't draft one of the centers at 6, I don't think I'll be able to handle it.

Agreed. If we go off the board this year there will be a CP meltdown. Safe to bet one of those guys are a Flame on June 30.

Yup, no hype around this guy. Hasn't played a shift of hockey since March 17th and he's "gaining steam". I hope the Flames make the right decision and stay clear of players who are hyped up and pick the guy they honestly think has the best potential to be a star player.

We are out of the playoffs again and future isn't bright, so what else do you think people are going to talk about on your chat board? Who should wear the C? Jersey colours? Come on.
I wasn't the one that brought up the 50% originally

And his QMJHL and AHL titles too? He must be awful lucky.

I would argue that the most accurate barometer of his ability to coach an NHL team effectively is the season we just witnessed, no?

While true that he didn't exactly get much to work with, he also failed to make the team look any better than it was the way a coach like Tippett or, hell, to a lesser degree even Brent Sutter did.

To me, he is another Mike Keenan. Both guys won with stacked teams and have done nothing at the NHL level since. The way the Flames bled GA and were made to look outright foolish in their own end at times only lends further evidence to my conclusion. Bob Hartley would not be coaching this team if he weren't the godfather of Feaster's kids. And frankly that speaks volumes about the way this organization is being managed.

I wouldn't say lucky plenty of guys have won in the CHL and AHL and been bad NHL coaches. Many guys with much success at those levels than Hartley actually.

Complete crap,if your not a good coach you get outcoached and loose..period.

If you ever get the chance to meet the man do so, he's extremely intelligent and has a memory of an elephant about hockey.

Great.

Too bad that doesn't make him a good coach.

Poor system, seemingly little concern for the defensive side of the game, too much leeway for the players. That was the main issues last season that I saw.

Not sure what the problems were in Atlanta but that wasn't a very impressive stretch and Colorado after the stacked teams was weak as well.

Hartley hasn't done much since winning with a stacked Avs team.

Since the "new" NHL post 2004, he hadn't won a playoff game and out of the league for a while...just like the GM.

The time between playoff appearances when he got here was similar to when Keenan was brought here, though the Flames had the talent to win in spite of a skeleton of the former Keenan behind the bench.

Hartley took last year's team and turned it worse..by a fair margin defensively. Kirpusoff's injury didn't help...but his game planning and usage of talent paled to Brent's. Hartley pulling stunts like throwing Kiprusoff in net that Nashville game when they played a barely acceptable AHL lineup didn't likely go over well. He certainly seemed to like to play power trips (see Blair Jones as well).

And Hartley was brought in as a vet coach, those vets are basically gone now. He'd get the non-Skype Kruger one-and-done treatment if he wasn't buddies with the GM.

As for the draft, I still have to believe the Flames have top push as hard as possible to move up a couple spots, for the player that is a cut above those at 6, and for optics, for the splash that Feaster seemingly wants to make to validate his position on an annual basis.

I also think there will be a big trade around draft day with an Eastern team. Buffalo?

Reading the last 5 or so pages of this thread has reminded me that I'm fearing June 30 and not looking forward to it.

Too much leeway how? I seem to remember him benching lots of players. Also what is his system? What makes it poor? what system should we be playing? Not that I disagree with you but i keep seeing people talk about systems and how it doesn't work, but never seen someone actually explain it.
