I wonder what the cost of the severance packages will be. That being said what I really hope occurs is a pruning of the management and examining the redundancies that exist within AHS, which is easier said than done.

The problem with AHS is that the individuals at the the top that are suppose to be doing the regulating of abuse are the very ones committing the significant amount of abuse at AHS.
Also these massive severance packages must be a thing of the past. Rewarding scoundrels for neglecting their responsibilities while at AHS is absurd.

I think that severance packages are common at high levels of management for major corporations (of which AHS is), so I can understand them being written into the contracts. The bigger issue is that the optics of giving bonuses out when there are cutbacks going on that impact people's day to day life is pretty iffy at best.
I don't think anyone has done anything wrong per say but I don't think that they have made themselves look good at all. How many people in oil and gas were eligible for a bonus this past year and turned it down?

I couldn't find it in the link, and am not really qualified in any sense of the word, but where do I apply?

I'm pretty sure the CTV story said that there would be no severence pay because they were fired.

Good riddance, if they couldn't see that what they were doing was beyond hypocritical... They got their comeuppance.

I'm pretty sure the fact that there is no severance pay doesn't have anything to do with them being fired, but the fact that it is the board that was fired, and not actual executives.
I could be way wrong on this, but I'm pretty sure board members aren't entitled to that kind of stuff.

Also, if you are fired with just cause, doesn't that change the entitlement to severance? In this case, this board disobeyed a directive from an authority

Great news. That AHS spokesperson was pretty arrogant yesterday at their news conference.

The entire management system at AHS needs to be razed to the ground. The majority of waste and dysfunction is at the management level. People like to bitch about the Nurse and Doctor unions, but the cronyism in the management ranks is where the issue lies.

That's awesome. Fred Horne deserves a huge amount of credit for having the balls to do this.
AHC executive postions were out of control with entitlements and bad management.

Hahaha - awww government. Do things because they sound good - its really to bad North America has gone so many decades without proper leadership - gawd love democracy.
Why would an executive give up a contractual bonus just because some politico is trying to accommodate the lowest common denominator voter.
Bring on the wrongful dismissal lawsuits.

The entire system is broken from people abusing the overtime system at the lower levels to the apparently obscene bonuses given to executives, people think of the funding as being part of an unlimited pot of money, not realizing that while they are taking with their right hand they are cutting off their feet. Right now there is a lack of accountability and the waste is evident throughout.
The issue lies throughout the health care system, unions are continually pushing for higher wages and then act surprised when there are cuts to positions. Anyone objectively looking at the situation could see the problems coming from a mile away.
The big money is being spent on keeping an elderly population alive for longer and longer periods of time.

This is a good read regarding how management is structured versus how it should potentially operate.
