Yeah, good point. I might grab two or three. If I can't offload them, then I'll just return them.

Or say . . . make a profit?
EDIT: Oh, and I think it is 2 per household. But I guess you could go and grab 2 at BB and FS.

I actually wonder if there will be a huge shortage of systems at launch.
Unlike in the past none of the components are custom built or really that hard to come by. Plus they are launching in limited regions to start (knowing that they don't really have anything to worry about in Japan).
I am sure it will still be hard to just walk into a store and buy one on launch day but the price for the PS4 leads to the though that their will be lots of capacity.
It does really grind my gears when people hoard these things only to flip them for a profit though.

I remember people trying to flip PS3's for like a $1000 only to have no one buy them.

I would laugh if people did what rubecube did, then didn't make anything off the resale.

You can pre-order in store at either Future Shop or Best Buy for $50 (same with EB), if you want to ensure you'll have it on launch day.

Yeah, I'm not sure if there's going to be a market, but if not I'll just bring them back to the store.
EDIT: Even if I only made $100 on each system, it would still be enough for me to pay off my own (less the GST/PST).

I'm fine with that. There's zero risk involved at my end.

Considering how hard they're pushing the Vita I wonder if they're going to have a PS4/Vita bundle.

I'm fine with getting it a day or 2 after launch. My main concern is that they do something like sell 50,000 preorders, but then they only get 40,000 PS4's and I am one of the unlucky 10,000.
The preorders for Amazon and EB Games sold out much quicker than Best Buy and Future Shop and that's the only reason it makes me think that.

When seeing the USB and disc slot, gives the scale of these units, they're pretty compact.

Curious to see both consoles side by side. If the hardware is essentially the same you have to wonder why a disparity of size? I imagine Microsoft went to great lenghts to avoid the RROD and beefed up the cooling of the Xbox One.

Was watching the IGN show last night and one of the things they mentioned about the difference of the memory between the GDDR5 and DDR3 is that GDDR5 runs much cooler and at a much lower voltage(1.65V vs 1V) than the DDR3.
Could be a reason for why the PS4 is a little smaller.

Could be, but I don't think RAM is a major heat source compared to CPU and GPU.

For those who are concerned about not getting the system on launch BB does have a special offer for Reward Zone members that guarantees they get the system on launch day.

Uh oh, #### getting murky for PS4 DRM stance:
http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/11/p...s-third-party/
Quote:
"There's gonna be free-to-play, there's gonna be every potential business model on there, and again, that's up to their relationship with the consumer, what do they think is going to put them in the best fit. We're not going to dictate that, we're gonna give them a platform to publish on. The DRM decision is going to have to be answered by the third parties, it's not something we're going to control, or dictate, or mandate, or implement."

Actually this makes a lot of sense especially since EA cancelled their online passes. If they ship all of their games with a CD key that requires authentication through Origin or say uPlay then you end up with the exact same setup as MS.
