Honestly, I think "Deerfoot Trail and Stoney Trail are maintained, managed and constructed by the Province of Alberta" should be put in huge, bright font at the start of every thread about municipal politics/issues/election, etc.
The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to frinkprof For This Useful Post:
I have no idea if this has been asked or not, and I can't find the info on the city website:
I have 2 questions:
1. What is the projected date of the ring road being connected and finished up to 22x?
2. What's the deal with Deerfoot over Glenmore? Is this getting widened?
Please provide links and whatever information you have.
On a side note: thanks for answering all questions Bunk, and providing links whenever you can. Although I don't support your boss, I am impressed that you've been able to keep up with this thread and represent him properly. It's nice to know that you can get the information we ask for, on a timely basis.
As I said above (and frinkprof also just reiterated), it's Provincial so you won't find much direct schedule or update information on Calgary.ca as you might on the Provincial Ministry of Transportation website (same with Deerfoot, which is Provincial), or sites like this:
Hey, it's a free country, but happy to hear you appreciate the thread. Just a small part of being as accessible and open as possible as an Office of the Mayor. I've been surprised how much interest it's gotten. It's tough to find every bit of info people are seeking (some I just don't know), but I'm trying my best.
Transportation felt there is capacity with some of the changes that are recommended for the area - there will be some intersection improvements made (extra turn lanes and such) that will increase capacity. Improved transit capacity (4 car LRT, SETWAY and SWBRT) are also crucial to reduce the crunch in the south.
Can you elaborate on what intersection improvements will be made to help funnel people out of that area onto Macleod Trail?

I'm trying to dig out what optimization changes in total are being contemplated for the area - having difficult finding them - they may be contained within the development's Transportation Impact Assessment. Nonetheless, through an approved motion arising related to Shawnee slopes here are some of the other transportation improvements being formally explored...
I'll try and find some of the other changes proposed for the area.
MOTION ARISING, Moved by Alderman Colley-Urquhart, Seconded by Alderman Demong, that with respect to Bylaws 23P2012, 51D2012, 52D2012, 53D2012 and 54D2012, Council adopt the following:
That Administration, in conjunction with the Shawnee Park development, consider and investigate the implementation of the following traffic mitigation measures:
a. Restrict northbound left turns at the intersection of Bannister Road and 145th Avenue along with traffic signals at Bannister Road and 149th Avenue.
c. Identify potential cost effective traffic improvements, funding sources (including but not limited to Optimization funding), and consider other mitigation strategies along Macleod Trail including but not limited to:
I. The optimization and reconfiguring of the Lake Fraser Gate intersection to consider allowing 4 northbound through lanes.
II. The provision of a 4th continuous northbound through lane on Macleod Trail under Canyon Meadows Drive.
III. The reconfiguring of the northbound ramp from Macleod Trail to Canyon Meadows Drive.
It's scheduled to re-open in August. Thus far it's on schedule.
On a related note, this week there will be traffic signal changes to help the transit shuttle from 39th Ave to Chinook Mall speed up its journey.
That is great to hear. Almost every day the bus gets stuck for quite a while at the light turning on to MacLeod Trail.
The temporary "bus loop" at Chinook should have had some planning as well, unloading and loading on to a relatively narrow sidewalk was poorly thought out. I have seen numerous people (women) fall and hurt themselves. The sidewalk should have been extended (where the 201 loads and unloads).
Location: In a land without pants, or war, or want. But mostly we care about the pants.

Think long-term. Once the strugglers are weeded out, they'll only be 3 or 4 of us left on the road, so you might go for days without ever seeing another vehicle.

Perhaps or maybe he had them made up. I believe min order for a custom bobble head is 1000 pieces so I can't see someone randomly deciding to make up Nenshi bobble heads.
