Giving up on Japan. Not even showing up . . . wow.http://www.theverge.com/2013/6/11/44...asia-late-2014

Microsoft revealed its Xbox One launch pricing this week at E3, with the company planning to release its next-gen console in November for $499. Twenty-one markets were revealed, including the UK and parts of Europe, but the company remained quiet about its exact plans in other regions. The Wall Street Journal reports that Microsoft is delaying its Xbox One launch in Asia until late 2014, a full year after the console debuts in the US.

Microsoft is only planning to offer the Xbox One in select Asian markets, including Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and India. Notably, Japan is missing from that list, a market that the Xbox 360 has struggled in traditionally. |

It's like if you were able to download the NHL '14 demo for free, and then buy the full game through the demo, right then and there. No need for a disc.

It's a bit hasty to jump to any conclusion, given that we don't even know what it's going to cost, and if it'll be cost-per-character or a one-time purchase. And even if it is per-character, so long as the cost is on-par with what you might buy an XBL Arcade game for at full price, what difference does it make?

Just not a fan of the "free to play but you have to spend this much per character to actually have a full game" model.
It like making NHL 14 free to play but then they are going to charge you $2 per team to get to the full $60.

Just a weird model for me, especially since this was such a high profile game that people have been waiting for.

Not a surprise at all. Japanese turn their nose to most American products. Xbox could be twice as good as anything Nintendo or Sony offers and they still wouldn't buy it. No point in wasting money and resources selling to a demographic that isn't going to buy your stuff.

Extremely dissapointed that it's going to be free to play. If there is a way to earn characters by playing the game then it may be okay. Sell all the costumes you want but characters and stages should be something a player can earn.

I've been waiting 13 years for KI3 and I really hope it doesn't end up like Perfect Dark Zero.

What will happen to Microsoft Points Cards?
Microsoft Points Cards will continue to be redeemable on your console and on Xbox.com throughout 2014 and for a limited time thereafter but will be discontinued after the launch of Xbox Gift Cards this fall. Please note that any funds we deposit into your account at the time of the transition will expire one year from the deposit date. Xbox Gift Cards, which will be denominated in your local currency, will be available for purchase in retail stores and through online retailers |

Microsoft goofed hard.

I don't see how they don't follow Sony's footsteps and completely change everything. They have to. If they don't they're going to get slaughtered in sales.

Question: If I pre-order both consoles, does my credit card get charged right away or do they only charge you when it ships?
Pre-orders in the past I've always had to put money down (EB Games), but that was for games and was $10, or I could pay the full price.

I've never pre-ordered a console before and don't really want to get charged $900 right now for pre-ordering both consoles.

Pretty sure they just do a pre-authorization on your card and they don't charge the full amount until the unit is ready to ship.

Yeah, amazon, bestbuy, futureshop, gamestop, ebgames all have never charged me until a few days maybe before they actually ship. Even for multiple game orders, they don't charge until individual games are ready to ship.
Usually the case I find unless sites use paypal.

Charged when it ships.

In-store they are charging $50 for pre-orders IIRC.

Well then my credit card better pepper it, because I'm pre-ordering both consoles then.
It's funny though, of the three games I'm pre-ordering they're all for different consoles. Last of Us, GTA IV (for 360) and either Forza 5, or Battlefield 4 (XBone).

Secondly, it is a joke. You're the drama queen if you can't take a joke.

Thirdly, it's not really a joke, it is mostly true.
